That's nothing for shevy Fran , the day before the france game he was involved in a minor car crash. He injured his back but still played the next day.
I know it was a while back, but did you miss Euro 2004? he nearly won it for us single handed, and is our best player. I believe that the reason he appears sometimes to not set the world alight for England is down to the poor tactics and poor ability of the others.
Did you see him in Germany 2006? Our Euro 2008 qualifiers? South Africa 2010? Yes he was great in 2004 but that's when he had his raw skill and felt privileged playing for England, now I believe he feels it is more of a chore than something to be proud of, thus his performances are decidedly average.
Rooney is our best attacking player so has to start. It's like suggesting Lambert shouldn't of come back in the saints team after his suspension against Brighton because we picked up a couple of wins.
The biggest concern must be that the Ukraine so far in this tournament have kept possession far better than ourselves. I was quite impressed how they moved the ball against Sweden. The key may just be how clinical the sides are; as for striking options I think we have a slight advantage.
He didn't stand out as bad in 2010 .... they all were shocking. If played in the correct position and supported by decent passing and attacking play, then he will shine. He is a quality player. He does it week in, week out for united. He is our only top class player (maybe Ashley Cole too), and if he really felt it a "chore", why does he not quit? He hardly does it for the money? I think you are doing him a dis-service and maybe because he comes across as a horrible little man at times, but he is still our best player.
agreed. they really kept it quite well against the Swedes. I am hoping that the crowd get frustrated if they don't score early and then we get one.
OK so it's crunch time. Will we do our usual and make things difficult for ourselves? Will we rely too much on Wayne? I'm off to the Oval to see England trounce Windies. Here's hoping for a win double!
line-up v Ukraine: Hart, Johnson, Terry, Lescott, Cole, Milner, Gerrard (c), Parker, Young, Rooney, Welbeck. harsh on theo
Hope you enjoyed it. When I went out the Windies were doing well...by the time I got back we were thrashing them.
Nothing like what I was hoping for. Why is Milner still getting selected? At least Rooney should help bridge that gap between the midfield and Welbeck.
I think Theo should have been starting tonight bit out of order, Young has not been very good so far, I thought he would be one of the main performers but he hasn't, Carroll should still be in the team aswell, feel sorry for him, he was great the other night.
****ing hell are they over hyping Rooney or not. Seriously he isn't that good(world class good i mean)
Ukraine proving the old adage that the less important or confident a country is, the longer the national anthem.
