The player must be wondering whats going on at the club, as signing for a club that has just sacked their manager must cause some concern for certain players. Unless of course you're being offered 150k pw then that can ease the concerns!
Just been a small feature on SSN about Verts. Agent saying "the deal is close. Very close", and that Redknapp's departure has not affected the player's decision.
i'm surprised it hasn't. money set aside, he must be concerned about some instability having just seen the manager get sacked? with all the other interest there supposedly is, i'm surprised he's not looking elsewhere to be honest. as it stands we have pretty much no strikers either. surely the current situation has got to be some sort of spanner in the works? or is it??!! ...Unless of course, he knew about levy's plan to sack redknapp all along, and perhaps knows something we don't know. Maybe Levy told vertonghen about who our next manager is likely to be, as levy begun talks with a new potential manager weeks ago?!
That's what immediately crossed my mind too. I imagine he knew Redknapp was set to leave, but I doubt he knows any more than me or you about who will replace him. A reliable ITK (I'm usually as suspicious of ITK's as everyone else) has said AVB is 100% done, it's simply legal/PL paperwork which needs finalising now, but take that with a large pinch of salt!
