If it's a money thing he would have gone to UAE? Had a fall out with Jol a while back and wants out. <ok>

He wanted a longer contract contract on the same money, and we wouldn't give him that (as far as I know).

Hughes ' mercenaries are the most overpaid in London. Barton 80k a week? How do they afford that on 15k attendances?

Maybe they have a better medical insurance or the physio couch is more comfortable. <whistle>

Wonder if he had to take a cut in pay when he was injured for more than 6 months with Fulham
like us normal people do when we are off work injured? ;)

A touch harsh, Craven. It's true that they seem happier than most to pay silly money. Given that AJ wants to stay in the South East and would prefer to stay in the Premier League, QPR seem an obvious choice for him regardless of the cash involved. As Bidley suggests, length of contract is an issue for him as well.

I'd question QPRs choice of players, but the policy of paying big wages to attract a better team/squad is one that plenty of teams - us included - have used to establish themselves in the Premier League. It was only once we had survived a few seasons and bedded in that Al Fayed started trying to stabilise the wage bill.

<ok>

Our aim is to stay in the Prem and MH is building a team with experience. I think most QPR fans would say that Barton and SWP have not produced on the field but i would never knock players like AJ or Zamora because they did a good job at Fulham and i expect them to do the same at QPR.
A lot's happening at our club, New training ground/stadium and they want to keep us in the Prem.
Don't think we will set the world alight but we will be hard to beat and i am quite sure we won't have any last day panics.

Qpr's wage bill was 183 per cent of their wage bill

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...cost-of-joining-the-Premier-League-elite.html

And this is before they invested in the mercenaries Barton and SWP who came to Loftus road for nothing other than money.

How can you run a club like that? Their wage bill will be 250 per cent of their turnover for 11/12.

More than City or Chelsea.

It is grossly unfair on Bolton. Why should QPR be allowed to buy a place in the Prem. hopefully FFP will end this and protect proper clubs like Bolton

I think that Ellers, despite being as irritating as hell on a different thread, is making fair points here, London's Only. It's a bit rich for Chelsea fans - or Fulham fans, if you think of how Al Fayed financed two thirds of our rise through the divisions - to criticise QPR for throwing money at players to establish themselves. The gist of your argument seems to be, 'you've spent a bigger proportion than us, so that's bad'. It may be that you criticised your own club in the past for spending big and blowing all transfer rivals out of the water in the early Abramovic years, but if you defend your club for that, then it's hard to see a reasonable basis for criticising others for the same approach.

I agree that I would rather have seen Bolton stay up than QPR, for all sorts of reasons, but football has always been about money - the clubs with money have always been able to use it to advantage over those without. The scale may have changed in recent years, but that's all. As for FFP, I'm still undecided about that. It may be wonderful; alternatively, it may safeguard clubs from financial meltdown (a good thing) but also make it impossible for smaller clubs to ever climb the ladder and grow into bigger clubs. I think it's too early to tell which is going to happen.

Agree where would Chelsea, Fulham and QPR be without the Money? Would City have won the league without mass investment, no?
I would like to see a cap made throughout the whole league but that would not happen due to greed, mainly by the bigger clubs so the only way to get on, if you are a smaller club is to have a rich owner.
As for Bolton going down they have spent too many seasons fighting off relegation and they simply were not good enough. I don't have anything against Bolton but rather them than us. If you were in the same situation you would want the same. <ok>

That's a pretty shocking statistic. The kind that rip the space-time continuum.

Personally I’m not surprised it looks like he is going to Rangers. I don’t believe he ever fell out with Jol but I know we only offered him a one year deal on reduced wages when he wanted 2 years on the same money. I remember in January we accepted an offer from Wigan for him but he didn’t want to leave London so turned the move down. I was surprised he was linked with a move to the UAE as he has always stated he wanted to stay in and around London

If he wants to stay in London there are only so many clubs available…

Personally I’m pleased he is moving on rather than staying. He’s very professional and always gives 100% on the pitch but since he came back mid 2010/11 season his goal scoring in the PL has been very poor. If you look at his goals per games last season it’s not too bad around 1 in 3 but that is sued by the 3 he got against Rangers and his goals in the Europa League. In terms of his performance in the Premier League he got 3 in 20 which is pretty poor.

You can’t fault him for chasing down balls and running around a lot but he doesn’t get too may goals.

He has signed now on a 2 year.
Good squad player with exp, something we lacked last season.
As i said we wont set the World alight but we will be harder to beat. Can't ask for more in our second season back in the Prem

Beat me to it, fulhamireland.

Valjing/roscafre will be tearing his/their hair out over the line, 'The former England international became a firm favourite at the Cottage with his tireless running and energetic performances.' !

Good luck AJ, just don't come back and score against us.

Come on it's AJ, he won't score against anyone. He might do a lot of tireless running and give some energetic performances against us though.

Good riddance to AJ- proven sicknote- not goalscorer. Gd luck to him, he has gone to a club that meet his ambition and ability- none.
