Roy Hodgson has been saying today Rooney will be coming straight back into the team for the Ukraine game. I dont think he should. I thought Andy Carroll was superb yesterday and Welbeck played well aswell. Both got on the score sheet a played well. But if you had to drop one who would you drop. He has built a decent understand with Danny Welbeck over the season at Man U but i dont think you can drop Andy Carroll based on last night. I would have Rooney on the bench and bring him on if we need to Donkey Milner has to be dropped but should Walcott come in from the start or just used as an impact sub where i think he is better. So should Oxlade Chamberlain start? Apart from them 2 i think everyones elses shirt is secure for the next game
Walcott should start solely on performance yesterday, the fact he's been dropped from starting may give him something to prove, Rooney should be on the bench aswell, Welbeck played well and a goal for Carroll would of improved his confidence
But if you start him will you get the same performance from him? I think Walcott will always be a impact player
I would drop young, he has been crap so far,.. theo in for milner, and chamberlain in for carrol.. so ... ox , rooney , welbeck, and walcott.. up front against the ukraine.... then bring carrol on later on if needed..
Perhaps after playing well he will want to play with passion, it's better to have players who want to play rather than players who think they deserve to play, ie Ferdinand
I do think Rooney should start - simply because he's our best player. Especially because what we've lacked is a bit of a spark when attacking and Rooney can go someway to do doing that. Probably Carroll to make way because Rooney and Welbeck had a good partnership at club level and Carroll was more or less brought in for the specific task of playing Sweden who were vulnerable to crosses and Welbeck's goal was very good. He's a better all-round player for me. Also think Walcott should come in for your mate Milner because again, whilst he probably doesn't do it often enough, he's another who gives you a bit more going forward. Still unsure as to why the best winger in the country (Adam Johnson) didn't get picked - for his sake I hope he moves to play regularly.
Rooney was always going to come straight back in as soon as he was available. The wingers are a hard one to call, Milner has been poor in both games and Young was poor yesterday, but I tend to agree that Walcott is better from the bench.
At the end of the day were all football fans, were not plastic bastards like 3/4 of the Man U fans. We all support England and wants whats best for them. We just support different football teams. Something which is forgotten in football now adays
I'd drop Milner, he's been shocking the last two games and I'd bring in Walcott. But with Rooney coming in, I can see Welbeck the most likely being dropped despite his great goal last night.
I'm with you on Young - only thing he excels at is theatrical improvisation when tackled ... my own view is that Rooney is too good to leave out of a fairly average team .... but he problems are likely to be defensive rather han offensive ....
I'd drop Milner and Young and replace them for Oxlaide Chamberlain and Walcott. I think I would also drop Welbeck for Rooney. Or would I? I don't know to be honest i'd be happy with any combination of 2 out of the 3. I think Welbeck and Rooney because of Man United connections. I think of Welbeck and Carroll because of how they played last night. I think of Rooney and Carroll because of their English style of play.
The funny thing is, I've been saying this for months about Young, but nobody seemed to agree with me. I guess everyone is starting to see the light now...
I think Young is best played behind the lone striker, who if looking at natural ability has to be Rooney, much as I hate to say it and much as it is unfair on both Welbeck and Carroll, who both played excellently. So therefore if playing these the attack imo should be: Parker - Gerrard Oxlade-Chamberlain - Young - Walcott Rooney Welbeck and Carroll would be useful impact subs, along with Milner who I think should be brought on to add bite in CM later in the match, not out wide where he isn't quick enough. However, I would really like to see Parker - Gerrard Walcott - Rooney - Young Welbeck Young is admittedly wasted out wide, but Rooney could be the creative figure in the centre, a role he plays well at Man Utd.
