Fellow Jacks Do you think that our new appointment will make Sigi think twice about going to Liverpool and following Rodgers? Sigi is only 22 and what better manager to improve an attacking creative midfielder than Laudrup? I know money might come into it, but sitting on the bench or being a bit part player might not be the best option (he could walk into the team though, what do I know). So, is there still a chance of completing the deal? Interesting time ahead me thinks!!!
CRC, what better player to teach you. As money etc has been agreed, then it's all about greed and not ambition if he goes to Liverpool. WE shall all have to wait and see if Laudrup rates him and he fits in with what he wants out of the team. Interesting times ahead as you say!!
He's only 22 and was just a kid when Laudrup was strutting his stuff. Liverpool v Laudrup? Liverpool will win. Really hope I'm wrong though and Siggy surprises us all.
Hope your wrong mate, but money usually talks!!! But it would surely be better for him to learn from the best for a couple of years and then move on. I thought the deal was dead in the water, but it must be 60/40 now?
I think he might well think twice, matter of fact, why hasn't he signed for Liverpool? surely someone is guiding the boy, better him playing under one of the greatest footballers, than siting on the bench at Liverpool, if it's any consolation, he didn't like it in Hoffenheim!.............
Personally I don't really want Sigurdsson any more because of his recent antics. I understand that it may be a case of cutting my nose off to spite my face but I certainly won't lose any sleep over him. If he does end up signing then he will have my support as a Swans fan but I'm sure Laudrup will have a few ideas of other players who could fill the position should it not materialise.
If siggy is confident in his abilities then playing full time under a tailor made for his position manager as the highly respected mr Laudrup every game is a no brainer and his stock could rise here for even bigger glory and riches down the line if he has a little faith in this team and himself ! But if he feels he`s not the real deal he will take the money and run or is that sit and good luck for being so honest if he does`nt feel confident in keeping up his hours of skill hes shown us so far ! the only advantage i see if he does a dourus is they wont get relegated but when he does play he may be a bit rusty and not game sharp as he would be here and the kop wont be as tollerant as us if he missfires !
I really feel the negativity a lot of the fans have shown towards him is a bit harsh...he had made a verbal agreement with our club, but particularly our MANAGER. I don't blame him for delaying everything after Rodgers left. I know that players should "play for the club" but many play for managers and some need a certain type of manager to flourish. Who knows what the new manager's plans or ideas might have been....? There is nothing to say it might even have been the board that delayed this as the new manager may not have wanted to spend close to 7m of his budget on this particular player? All I'm saying is just give the guy a break and let's see how it all pans out, personally I'll love him whatever happens as he contributed so much to the great season we just enjoyed.
I think this will be a case of Jason scotland syndrome where the player and manager think the player is better than he really is......scotland was good for us a bit slow maybe but he scored goals. At wigan he really struggled and that was not because he was useless it was because he never had the right players around him like he did with us, It ended up with martinez getting rid and now Jase is in the lower leagues, I have a feeling that siggs will end up the same as he wont have the comfort of our players around him to make him look good, At liverpool he could well struggle and like scotland wont last long before he will be out the door and playing lower league football. For his sake i hope it works out for him but at the end of the day he is not a world class player just a player who had a good spell for a short time with us that was fading towards the end anyway and he wont have our players around him to make him look good....
And there in lies Gylfi's problem! too slow for a top 6 club . Gylfi lacks a burst of pace that doesnt look out of place at Swansea but will be more glaring at a top side, he is still a good player, but with Gerrard losing a yard of pace this season,Adam being too slow and Henderson not exactly quick either it begs the question, will Liverpool have the slowest midfield in the premier league?? Gylfi has everything apart from pace,no problem at a team like Swansea but it will be a Problem when he gets exposed playing for Liverpool against the Likes of Man Utd and Everton, fans dont like to see their players looking ponderous against heated rivals .
I dont think the lack of pace is the problem in the centre of midfield, especially with a player like sigi. In the modern game, pace matters down the wings, and full back positions, but, in the middle of midfield the ball should be the pace, the speed, the direction of the game. This is the game I enjoy seeing, technical, not tactical football. Laudrup can teach sigi all this, his passing was amazing, if a midfield player in SCFC cant learn from a player like that, where can they learn it????
Whether Sig comes or goes is way over blown IMO . I'm in the same boat as Stereotongue , might prefer someone else that Laudrup might have in mind but would certainly support Sig if he signed for us .
Cracker/musty, you must be mad!!! How many attacking goal scoring midfielders do we know?? The way he whips in the corners and free kicks are awesome and beyond anyone in our current team. Hes like a Pires in the Unbeatable season for Arsenal, only we need a player like that more. This is type of player we need to break the bank for, and im sure Laudrup will see that
Give it up guys, Siggy is gone. Wasn`t he seen earlier on with Rodgers in his brand new Audi driving around Swansea, people honking and shouting abuse, but not hurlung objects at them. Seriously, if he goes to Liverpool or anyone else, so be it. There are other fish in the sea, after all, it`s a mighty big ocean out there. Don`t know how reliable this story is: http://theswanseacityblog.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/swansea-city-3-speculated-transfer.html
How many fish are there like Sigi? Im usually one of these people who say "**** um, if they want to go, let them go" but notings signed yet, and personally, Siggy is one of the most gifted players to be with us, we are in the prem now, he's not a Leon Knight that shows promise and fade away, we need to sign this player, and im sure HJ will try his best to do.
