    Germany looked outstanding last night, Mesut Ozil was brilliant, he was one of my standout players during the last world cup, it's been reported he can be inconsistent, but he's looking like he's going to have an excellent European campaign.

    The Dutch and the French, my pre tournament most overrated sides. I said the Dutch were crap at the back after they struggled to beat a weakened England side 3-2 at Wembley. That came just after we'd wrongly undermined our coach, Pearce taking charge for one game. Sure they have plenty of attacking talent but I don't rate the manager and I don't rate most of their defenders. The French are a decent side but no where near the world beaters everyone was dressing them up before our game. I watched all their qualification and build up games, it was like watching paint dry!

    Germany led the Dutch a merry dance (particularly Ozil) and they just couldn't cope with the German movement. My money on them is looking better by the day but Spain will improve when they play Torres/Llorente. The Germans are only in 2nd gear. I'd still like to see Gotze and Schurrle at some stage but you can't really argue with the results.
