With the break in football over the summer, the groundstaff have taken full advantage by carrying out much-needed work on the pitch at Loftus Road as well as the many pitches at the Harlington training ground.
Steve Moore, Managing Director of Sportsturf who look after the pitches for the Club, told www.qpr.co.uk today (Friday): "The pitch at the stadium has undergone extensive end-of-season renovations.
"To make it a successful operation all grass matter needs to be removed from the playing surface by means of a Koro Fieldmaker, then fresh sand is integrated into the fibres and over sown with some modern Rye cultivars.
"The pitch is then nurtured back and ready for use for the new season, and the growing period needed to bring it back to its required density is approximately eight weeks."
Meanwhile, the training ground surfaces have also been worked upon, with Moore explaining: "There are eight pitches in use at Harlington and these need extensive renovations as well.
"Because QPR are very conscious of the water situation and also the moral aspect of being restrictive in the use of water, six of the eight have only undergone a partial renovation incorporating the old grasses.
"The main training pitch has undergone similar works to that of Loftus Road."
