New manager = chance for GDS, Pienaar, and others to break into the team?

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by Hoddle is a god, Jun 15, 2012.

  1. I wonder if Redknapp's departure will have been greeted by the likes of GDS with a sigh of relief, since he might now consider it more likely that he gets a chance to play in the first XI?

It'll certainly be interesting to see how the new manager sets up his squad. I'm hoping that he'll give every player an opportunity to impress.

HIAG I suspect that it might be the opposite.
It might hasten their departures as the new gaffer will know about them or be told why they aren't in the first team.

    Pienaar - Likely
Corluka - Naughton is linked with a permanent move to Norwich (so wait for a bid from Villa...), so possible
    Dos Santos - Either/or
Bassong - Sold to usher in Vertonghen (Levy is pushing that deal through)
    Jenas & Bentley - Gone

On the other hand, what about King, Cudicini and Saha? Do they get new contracts, or do they get a handshake and best wishes?

A lot depends upon who comes in, but I think that quite a few of those mentioned are basically out the door already.
Dos Santos and Bassong, for a start.

If Moyes comes in, then I'd expect Pienaar to return and play a much bigger part than he did under Redknapp.
Corluka may still be one of those with a chance.

Any competent manager usually gives all the players in his squad a chance to impress before forming his own opinion of their suitability. Not just take the word of others.

i would oust King (in a very nice way, by pushing him "upstairs"), Gallas, Nelson, Saha, Cudicini etc. They're all seasoned pros and are likely on big money. None of them are likely to play 20 full games next year. We can afford to lose 3 old CBs if we bring in Vertonghen and give Caulker some games.

Bentley/Jenas/GDS/Bassong just need to be got rid of. I don't think they are good enough for us now. Levy should just sell them now before the manager gets a say. None would need replacing as they barely played anyway.

IF Moyes, then Pienaar can replace Modders. Modders cash to buy Vertonghen (obviously that deal should be done ASAP, not waiting for modders cash), Adebayor and NEW STRIKER.

Not a great deal of first team upheaval and comes out about even. Lets see what the new chap can do with that lot.

My CV is in the post for the DoF role ;)

It does look bad that, a few days before sacking Harry, we sold Kranjcar to Dinamo Kyiv - what if the new manager wanted to use him in their line-up?
