I like this quote from Rednapp
==========================

"Redknapp was full of praise for Nelsen's performance and compared his influence at the club to that of Scott Parker. "I thought he was fantastic tonight," the Spurs manager said. "I just think he is a great professional and a real good player.

"I couldn't believe I got him on a free. I felt it was an amazing player to bring to the club, he is a player I have chased for years. I have always thought he was top class, a great pro, a great trainer, a fantastic person.

"He has got a six-month contract. At the end of the season you have got to keep him here next year because he's worth his weight in gold just to have around for other people to look at the way he works, the way he trains, the way he behaves, his attitude.

"That's what football clubs are built upon, people like him, Scott Parker, Brad Friedel. You bring them in and it changes everything. That has been the difference this year."

Trouble is they wont be fit, 2 of them are crocks and will be injured at least 50% of the season, I saw on fantasy island that wed been linked to Saha. Yet another crock in his mid 30s.

Exactly, Arsenal have no experience, we have no youth. At least Arsenal had a future with that team and did well. We will be cripple by old players we wont be able to dump for free.

Barton
SWP
Young
DJ
Bothroyd
Johnson
Zamora.

They will be massively overpaid compared to their ability hence why they are the next Vine, Rowlands, Cook.

They will all feature to varying degrees next season, that's what a squad is all about. The pay is part of the price of being in the PL...

The OPs statement was "we are in the bargain basement".

Yes we are, because the rest of the shop isn't open for business yet.

We can't criticise until we see what else we buy in the main shop ... when it opens.

On that note, when does the summer transfer window open for business?

I would actually be fairly happy with this signing...I know he is at the later stage of his career, but plenty of fit players go on playing to 36, 37 & 38 these days. He would provide excellent cover and a massive amount of experience. I think he was captain for Blackburn, as well as captain for NZ. Leader as well then....definately better than Gabbi, Hall and ****tu IMO!

It's a strange business though isn't it. I have to renew my uber-expensive season tickets before the end of the month (or lose the seats) and yet I will only really know what it is I'm paying for well after that. In what other business could you get away with that? Imagine buying tickets for the Bolshoi only to be told when you turn up that the North Dudley Morris Dancing club were on instead.

Have faith! I'm not sure it will be the equivalent of the Bolshoi or the North Dudley dancers we see next season. I read that QPR are one of a number of clubs negotiating with a (I think) US company to sell it the right to deal in season tickets on the open market - thus selling at a premium on the retail price, or if the club is flagging, presumably a loss.

QPR have agreed the signing of New Zealand captain Ryan Nelsen.

The 34-year-old defender is available on a Bosman free transfer following a short spell at Tottenham.

Nelsen has completed a medical and agreed a one-year contract at Loftus Road with the option of a further year.

He joined Spurs on a six-month deal at the end of January after seven years at Blackburn, where he played under R’s boss Mark Hughes.

Ironically, Hughes beat QPR to his signing when he captured him from MLS side DC United in 2005.

The then Rangers manager Ian Holloway was keen to sign Nelsen and invited him for a trial before Hughes intervened.

Nelsen was troubled by injuries towards the end of his Blackburn career and did not start a Premier League game during his time at Spurs.

This is what it's all about. Mark Hughes hasn't got anything wrong in the transfer market since joining us, and with his track record at other clubs where he has got it so wonderfully right how can we not trust him?

That's great, he'll be buggering off to the other side of the world for the qualifiers every couple of months. Let's hope his stamina is up...
