Now that Redknapp has been sacked by Spurs they are without a manager. This is a good opportunity for Chelsea to bid for Modric or Bale. We all know Modric wants out as he is unhappy. Apparently Bales agent has said the lack of Champions League football is a problem. Which one of those players would you have?
As a Newcastle fan your team is going to be sick enough as it is without bidding for him aswell!! Seriously though you guys will be right up there for the title next year! ...Just dont come calling for Cabaye/Tiote/Ben Arfa or Cisse thanks!
There are reports that we are making a bid of £18m for Ben Arfa in the Times and Mail newspapers. Also we are interested in Tiote.
No to bale given we're gonna have Mata, Marin and Malouda all as left sides attackers. No to Modric now we have Hazard. I can really only see merit in buying Hulk for the 35-40 million that Bale and Modric would costs. Plus, Levy wont sell to us.
they're gonna want 40-50 million for Bale and he's worth NOWHERE near that. I'd still take Modric but not at 35 mil. 25 mil max! If we were to bid for any Spud player I'd go for Walker but we don't really need a right back!
As someone who has bagged Modric regularly, I have now change my mind. For the right price, £25 max, he would be a very good buy for us. Watching him at Euros the other night, he has just the skills we need, he sits and controls the midfield, spraying passes accurately and opening up defences. With our forwards and defenders, he could be just the final cog. By the way, Benayoun ????
No to either, both will be overpriced and we could get better for the same money elsewhere. I guess I would take Modric but we would be fools to pay over £30million for him, and reports state Levy is going to hold out for atleast £40m, which is frankly ridiculous.
with Henderson and Downing costing £20m i don't think you have a chance of Modders for £25m, especially when your £40m got turned down last year
Agreed. His not worth 40 million though so ultimately he won't come to us. I suspect Levy would take less from abroad.
Modric has shot himself in the foot really to be honest. If he hadnt signed such a long contract his situation would be alot better. But it serves him right for signing a six year deal (it was 6 wasnt it?) unless he was a million per cent sure that he wanted to be at Spurs for the long haul. Makes me angry when these players sign a contract and then whinge like hell until clubs relent and end up having to sell them. SIGN SHORTER CONTRACTS THEN!!
