I know he is a free but is this really the way forward.
We already have Skuse, Elliott, pearson, kilkenny and Cisse if he signs a new contract. To bring in a 'journeyman' for a season i just cant see what benefits we will get but hopefully i will be proven wrong and it will be the signing of the season.

Also from wiki which i didnt know

Morris has had a bad image over several legal and ethical issues. Chronologically, these include allegations that: he was one of a group of Chelsea players who drunkenly abused American tourists at*Heathrow Airport*within hours of the*9/11 attacks*on*New York City*and*the Pentagon;[17]that he was involved in a drunken brawl (in 2002);[18]*that he was involved in a sexual assault (in 2003).[19][20]*He was also arrested for drunk-driving on 1 November 2006, after*driving the wrong way*down a one-way street. Morris, who had one previous conviction for drunk-driving, was disqualified from driving for four years, given 80 hours community service and a two-year suspended jail sentence.[21]

Maybe he's learnt better - anyway, since when has someone who made 124 appearances for Chelsea, collecting UEFA Cup and FA Cup winners medals on the way been described as a "journeyman"

He is quite evidently a cut above any of those who you have named and DM trusts him to do a job for us so that will do just fine me. Lets see what he does for us on the pitch before we start questioning...

Have to agree with Tigerlilly on this one, Del managed him before and had no trouble with him, and trust him to do a job for us.
He was a good player with Chelsea, if I remember correctly he was with Leeds when they were in the prem could be wrong.
Hartley was about the same age and he done a good job for us <ok>

DM managed him at St Johnstone - no problems - some people realise they need to grow up - sounds like that's what happened here.
DM knows exactly what he's going to get.
We need a creative midfield player - just hope his legs are better than Hartley's
He's also a leader - we lacked leadership on hte pitch last year.
    I'm happy about this signing

Good signing in my opinion, also when i asked the liverpool fans about suso a few said he wont be able to play every game and we shouldnt expect him to light up the league, so perhaps del has brought Jody in to help suso if we sign him, McInnes wouldn't sign somebody if he didnt feel they could improve the team, if he says he's good enough, then he's good enough

Morris wants to do his coaching badges and by the sounds of it is thoroughly professional in training which is the kind of attitude we want in the dressing room. As Prem said, you don't play 124 games for Chelsea if you don't have something good about you.

You are a very different person as far as maturity goes at 25 than at 33. I'm not worried about that.

His legs though? maybe a concern.

I remember him, which is odd as I was a child when he was playing in the Prem. Moved on from Chelsea just before Roman arrived and went down with Leeds. He probably could have stayed at that level, but as has been quoted his off the field antics were always an inhibition. I'd assumed he'd retired, which shows my knowledge of modern Scottish football.

I welcome a player with his experience. I feel he has been brought in to give experience to the midfield, probably to become first team coach, certainly will not play every match as the legs may not be willing with two games a week and good for the dressing room.
As for the personal history, we all know about the drinking culture that existed at Chelsea, but that was a few years ago so let's back DMc's evaluation of him and welcome him to the Gate.
Reference the number of midfielders we already have mentioned in previous post; Cisse may probably not re-sign and it's always possible that one or more of the current midfielders under contract, could be moving on before the season starts. Without mentioning names, there is certainly one other than Cisse, who we could do without!

'Bristol city fans think as much of Kilkenny as we did (we did warn them he was ****) but surely he's better than jody ****ing Morris'

    Off the Leeds board. For your sake I hope McInness isn't doing a Buckle;
going back to his old club for signings and staff.

A centre midfield partnership of Morris and Killkenny could scare any team coming to play us with the tallest of the two being 5ft 5

Just reading the article on the evil post website, it says, not sure if it is a quote from DM as it followed a statement he made.

Morris can play in a central midfield two or even a three and will provide competition for Neil Kilkenny and Marvin Elliott.

So where does Skuse fit in? Does that mean:
    1. Skuse is his first choice and its a toss up of the other 3 who will partner him
    2. Skuse is going back to playing defence
    3. Skuse is leaving the club

I'm hoping its because he is the first name on the team sheet to play in the of midfield as I believe he was one of our key players to staying up as he didnt lose a single game last season when he played centre midfield after he came back from injury.

Also no mention of pearson who has resigned

We have five for central midfield, Pearson, Elliott, Skuse, Morris, Kilkenny. Cisse wants away and is out of contract on 1st July.
Five is not too many especially if we play 4-5-1.
Let's assume Cisse does not stay, I'd still like, without mentioning names to see the back of one of those five and replace with a real quality playmaker.
I'd like to think that Skuse could develop that way, but would need time to learn a new craft, so one out and one more in would be my best option. Joe Edwards can also perform in midfield.
I think there is a "hidden agenda" with Morris as I feel sure he's been brought in to be groomed as first team coach and also be another DMc man in the dressing room.
But we still need a tin opener!

Scuze did brilliantly at the back end of last season, probably his most consistent and accomplished so far.
    However
Much really depends on wether Scuze can maintain that level of fitness, motivation and effectiveness. If he can, the fella can go on and become a quality Championship or even lower Prem midfielder.
But if he cant, I believe McDel will move him on in time.

Morris is exactly what we have been missing since Hartley left, and I believe he will form a powerful combination with Pearson who will compensate for the lack of height. There is a lot of good experience in those 2 and I can see there where McDel is coming from.
Dont forget, we are not necessarily a buying club so we have to do deals to get our players and rely on our manager to work miracles with them.
Therefore a free signing with loads of quality experience and a little hunger remaining is a good days work for BCFC

I hope we experiment with Adomah in the hole next season instead of stuck out wide. He could be a revelation in time alongside a Stead type, linking the midfield to the attack and running from deep. It may need him to work on his game a little, but thats good isnt it ?

And as I said before, the betting odds will influence the quality of players who can be attracted to the club!

"And as I said before, the betting odds will influence the quality of players who can be attracted to the club"

The players aren't that stupid, they will judge things on manager potential, players at the club. potential investment etc.

    Betting odds will be irrelevant.
