When does the Championship season actually start? The last two seasons in the Championship both opening games were in the first 10 days of August, I only ask as I'm going on holiday on the 11th of August for 11 days but I'd rather watch the first game of the season as football is more important. I heard that our first game of the season is a League Cup game against Rotherham on the 14th, but in an article they said the "real stuff" starts four days after that, can someone verify this for me?

I've just found out that the season starts on the 18th of August, hopefully it will be a long trip away game so I have a decent excuse of not going, then I'll be back in time to see the first home game a week later
Official League season starts on the weekend of 18th August 2012. Fixtures out on Monday 18th June but then WE ALL WAIT and see what mess the Sky tv people make of them. Dont plan anything just yet ? lol. As for the Rotherham Utd COC 1st round match dont rule out that being played on saturday 11th August, as the FL have given permission for clubs to move games to that weekend. It does save a meaningless friendly being arranged.
