The rumour about us signing Jonas Olsson seems to have been resurrected, again. Sounds like an addition to the Vertonghen deal, from what's been reported. £3-4m the suggested price. Kaboul, Vertonghen, Olsson, Caulker? King, Gallas, Nelsen, Bassong out?
There were rumours we were going to offer Nelsen a year extension the otherday. I think King and Possibly Gallas would stay and Caulker will go out on loan again, if we get Olsson. Still not sure why we want the guy.
He's only got a year left on his contract YV, so he's available on the cheap. West Brom's Player of the Year last season, so he must've done something to impress, I guess.
Can't say he's ever really stood out to me. Mulumbu or Odemwingie are the only two I'd rate from their squad.
What about Chris Brunt? I hear he's better than Xavi... The only way a move for Olsson makes sense is if two of King, Gallas and Nelsen are leaving this summer, along with the presumed departure of Bassong - meaning we have Kaboul, Vertonghen*, Dawson, Caulker and King/Gallas/Nelsen at the back. If we're after him because we bodged Vertonghen, a lot of fans'll be pretty irate at this.
Brunt can take good set pieces too. Sign him up! Yeah that sounds about right for centre backs, 5 is a good number but we could do with Dawson staying fit for longer.
If we have missed out on Vertonghen just for the sake of Bentley`s salary, I shall be extremely pi55ed off.
I'm sure Vertonghen will fit into the wage structure by virtue of the Kranjcar-shaped gap that's current in it. One thing that needs clarification is the contract status of King, Gomes, Cudicini and Saha. All for are out of contract this summer (allegedly), so which are being offered new deals, and which are being released? We could've tied that one up a few weeks ago.
Arsenal, usually so lacklustre in transfer windows, are doing pretty well so far, especially if they get Giroud. We need to hurry up and sort out this Redknapp thing as I think it's affecting any player deals from occuring. Of course - if he goes then our transfer dealings could alter drastically anyway...
What makes you say that? Have you watched him? His goal record is much better than Chamakhs in his breakthrough season, he was top scorer with ~ 9 assists for montpellier, and unlike chamakh, he's shown that he has skill on the ball and is not a one trick pony. Haven't seem him play overly much but people that have, have said that he's a good striker, obviously not RVP class but definitely a good start
watched him as much as i watched Chamakh before you boys signed him....its not a dig.....i wouldnt want him at Spurs...rather make sure we get Ade on a permanent. apart from Falcao you cant replace RVP.o
Like you bought Henry... or Benayoun? Do atleast try to come up with something that doesn't make you look daft.
http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/155459.html Not so much bothered about the content, usual press twisting what Charlie said but it was interesting that he was talking about the club as "Spurs" and "they". Perhaps he knows of a move that's being lined up for him, it all went a bit quiet after Niko left.
