Think Im gonna be unpopular here...But its the man utd board so I probably was already.

Toasting bread is just a way of covering up the pantsness of british processed sliced bread.

Toast with butter and jam tastes great, but is it as nice as a scone with butter and jam.....No.

Toast has pathetic thermal mass potential....So after toasting you are lucky to get to the sofa before the toast is cold...where is the logic in that?

Give me some proper crusty bread with ham, cheese and proper butter and you are talking.......

Toast is what us brits use to cover up our inability to make decent bread.......

Unlees you are talking toasted sandwiches made in a toasted sandwich maker in which case, I hold my hands up and say first class, a gourmet of the rapid chef.......But then again everytime I buy a toasted sandwich maker some bastard uses it too cook a triangular egg.....assholes, cooking ****ting chicken period in my delux snack maker should be punishable by castration....

So ok toast is nice, but you need to wear a tinfoil hat when eating it as all you are doing is living a conspiracy that revolves around our lack of a decent bread making industry.....

Now the French can make bread!!!!

See I'm not so sure I can agree with this... toast is a snack that fits almost any occasion. and is exceedingly versatile insofar as to the things which can be applied to it, which would not work on just bread.

though i agree our bread is rubbish though it evolved to be rubbish to make it last 5 days without going mouldy.

I have a continental sandwich toaster, never used it.. I feel ashamed

See you are one of the strange breed of people. there is nothing nice about eating burnt toast.. i like my toast done in a toaster for 2 mins ish.. its like people who like their toast barely toasted dont get that either.. though i would rather have it barely toasted than burnt..

    How do you make Pate?
Dont you just blend a duck and then let it settle?

Chicken livers or duck livers. trim the sinew off them.

fry off some shallots and garlic then add the livers splash of madeira or brandy or sherry vinegar teaspoon full of thyme... dont fry them too long as you want them to be pink in the middle then lob it all in a blender with a few knobs of butter.. job done.. spoon into ramakins or such like and pour melted butter over the top..

I think i over cooked my livers when i made it last night..

French bread toasted and buttered before cooling then smothered in sardines(with tomato sauce) accompanied by a big mug of black unsweetened tea.

btw my son has nutella sandwiches for breakfast/lunch/tea/snacktime, he loves it!
