Another chance to reacquaint with Steve Evans after last years highly promising performance against one of his teams in the cup... At least it's at home and lower league opposition.

Also they should bring a few fans along, so better atmosphere than Exeter at home say.

    Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. ffs, :steam:

I get the draw i wanted but not where i wanted it. Any chance of it being changed to Rotherhams new stadium ? <whistle>

So we start at home and FL have said that the games can be brought forward to the w/k of 11/12th August IF BOTH clubs agree. In our case it would have to be saturday 11th as Hull FC are at home on sunday 12th to Catalans.

It will be Bruceys first home competative game and he will surely play his best available team you would expect. ;)

£10 + £5 with a saturday KO and the gate should be a big one. :1980_boogie_down:

Why is this game on before the start of the season? That's just daft. I know they wanted to move the season start back a week to wait for the Olympics to finish and that makes sense, but why does the cup game have to stay at the same time, meaning we play in that before the season starts? That's ridiculous and everyone will just treat it as another friendly.

To be fair hardly anyone turned up for the spectacle that was the City Macclesfield game in the league cup last year, I was one of the unlucky ones. I think with it being the first competitive game it gives it a bit more spice. Also as it's Bruce's first game in charge and the lineup possibly including more first teamers than it would I think more people will turn out for it.

I went to that game too. I still think it's just wrong having a cup competition start before the season, it's meant to be a big buildup to the first league game but a barely competitive cup match will spoil that a bit.

Its a good idea. The season starts 2 weeks later than last season and the first international break is on 3rd Sept. (due to world cup qualifiers)

So with only the 18th August, 25th August and 1st Sept being saturdays and a possible league game being fitted into the w/c 20th and the 2nd round fixed for w/c 27th august it makes perfect sense to me.

Plus Rotherham Utd @ home on saturday 11th August in the COC 1st round has more appeal than a meaningless friendly. For once the FL are using there heads.

With this being Steve Brucies First competative game and at home it will be a major shocker if they dont. I even expect SB to field his strongest avaialble team for the game. Now that is an upgrade on last seasons dross with Macclesfield. Hope the price stays at a tenner for adults. Just need confirmation of the date now for the game.

I would suggest that the club should offer all persons who paid for last seasons Macclesfield ticket will get a 50% discount at the very least for the Rotherham game.

I hate the fact that this is the first game of the season, but i will still be there even if its just to shout abuse at Evans and his assistant.
