Who has made it clear he wants out, who was dropped last season for a long stint due to poor performance. And anyway, where did I say I want to sell him? I clearly stated "I like Matty but I wouldnt be gutted to see him go." I honestly dont think some people on here read what was said and instead jump to their own conclusions of what was posted.
One of the players who scored less than Fryatt in the Championship last season just got sold for £7m. The only players who scored more than Matty last season were Ricky Lambert, Ricardo Vaz Te, Billy Sharp and Ross McCormack, they're all worth a couple of million. All of League One's top five scorers last season would also be at least a couple of million, Rhodes probably double that. We could always look at League Two's top scorers, we could probably get Kevin Ellison for a few hundred grand? I wouldn't entertain any offer for Fryatt below £2m and even then I think we'd have to spend more to replace him.
I agree we need to keep him but if a Midlands club put in a substantial bid then I think he would want to talk to them
You implied you wouldn't mind selling him at a stupidly cheap price we my aswell let him go on a free. Forget him going to a midlands club, give him a company car and let him commute.
Like who ? Maybe Lesta are the only midlands club who may have the sort of cash needed. If NP wanted Fryatt back then we could do a swap for Beckford with Lesta making up his wages.
He could could get his agent to drive him into work every morning and stop at ever motorway service station. You never know who you might bump into on your way into work on a crisp december morning.
Specially in these car parks, he might bump into Darren fergusons dad at Woodall and engineer himself a deal at old trafford
This is spot on IMO. He can be frustrating with how many touches he takes but he's still a quality striker at this level. I really don't want him to go.
Agree with this, although I'm not sure Wycombe would want a seven figure sum for Stuart Beavon All the same, to sell Fryatt would be stupid, all this crap about him wanting to move to the midlands is tripe. Most footballers don't play in the same place they are from, it's part and parcel of being in the game. He can go back for a few days during the week, or during the international break if he really has to; he said he was happy at Hull City, so he doesn't really have much cause to leave, unless a PL club comes in for him.
We might find out very shortly, either way I do expect we'll see him playing in the Championship next season(Millwall have bid for him already and Sheff United want him to replace Evans).
Interesting, he might do a job for a lower half team. Wonder how much Celtic would want for Samaras/Stokes? The former can also play wide and the latter has really come on as a footballer in the last 18 months. He didn't do much at Sunderland, but he was still learning his trade and might now be worth a punt if the asking price isn't completley mental.
No thanks to Samaras, allegedly been **** all season, been shocking in both of Greece's games (although most of their team have) and never really thought much to him anyway. Surely Wet Spam will have a few spare strikers, didn't they have about 10 decent championship quality strikers on their books by the end of the season? But either way if the Heskey rumours are true and it comes off I'd be well more than happy with that, lets both Fryatt and McLean play the styles they are used to and suited to. I know not alot here think much to McLean but if he gets to play that poacher role the posh used him in rather than a complete all round striker, we may well see a completely different player. You never know Simpson may come good under Bruce and I'd fancy Stewart alongside Heskey any day.
Heskey will be very very good indeed in this division .. for whoever gets him ... anyway how's it going Bob? ... been a while
Fooking' hell, to say you're supposed to be a journalist. £750k to £1m for a Championship striker that scored 16 goals last season? #dreaming again.
Good and bad thanks pal, me daughters arrived, I've drank boob milk tea, but I've lost £150 on the euros. If I ever meet any of the Holland or Russia squads (particularly Arshavin), or Nicklas Bentner, they will be sure to get a black eye or two and held to ransom until they reimburse my stakes they pissed away woefully. (actually bentner has an escape route if he nets a couple of OG's v the jerries and Holland beat Portugal then I'll reclaim a considerable amount) How you keeping fella? PS. Add Shevchenko to the black eye list.
I stuck a post up about Beavon a while ago, supposedly a really impressive striker, second top scorer in a Wycombe side that got relegated.
You'll get laughed at for that but I agree with you. In our system he spends too much time facing away from the goal. He does that job pretty well, but if people want him to score more he'd need to be running onto things instead of creating his own chances from nothing. Fryatt can do that because his dribbling and linkup is good, but McLean is more the sort to get on the end of things.
