Who should it be next year? Would you stick with Hammond? Fonte stepped in in games last year so is it time we gave it to him for good? Or someone else entirely?

Also - is KD still technically the 'club captain'?

I think Adkins would stick with Hammond for this season. If it was to change I would like to see Jos, Lambo or Fonte get it.

I'd like to see Adam get it or Jos, both natural leaders and Adam has shown huge loyalty to tha club and I believe deserves it in a way

SKD and Hammond to keep respective roles. Fonte as back up, though, contentiously, may depend if we sign another CB. Not fond of striker being Captain.

AFAIK yes, he is. IIRC he writes the captains notes for the matchday programmes anyway.

As much as I'd like to see Adam get it there's 2 reasons I wouldn't give it too him yet
1)He's going to have a huge amount of pressure on him to perform & he could do without the extra that captaincy brings.
2)I don't think that wingers\attacking midfielders make the best captains I prefer defensive minded players or central midfielders as they tend to have better views of the whole pitch.

Personally I'd give it to Jos, or maybe Morgan. If KD is no longer first choice keeper then Adam should take over as club captain IMO.

It doesn't matter whether your club captain is number one or not - Dodd or Lundekvam weren't when they were club captains, neither was Svensson

I think if Hammond is getting a game we will be up the proverbial creek..

    Hammond.

I expect him to start a lot more games in the premier league as well being the most defensive minded of our midfielders.

No, I wasn't. I do believe however that we should not promote above the level of competence, and in my opinion the championship is his level. He has in my view little chance of raising his game to premiership level wheres as Morgan has..

I 100% agree about Morgan, however with Deano I don't know. I do know that I can not catagorically say it is above his level of competence. He fetches and carries for the players that play; he may still be able to do that in the Prem. He may not. Most teams need that type of player, even some of the top teams.

Completely agree. Soime players will adapt to the higher level some won't. We see this every season when players aren't as effective in the higher tier and others who we expect to struggle flourish. For Saints the squad have all earnt the chance to show if they can hack it.

Surprised no-one's mentioning Cork, maybe a bit young now but captained the England under-21 side so he's obviously got the right stuff. Think Schneiderlin captained France at under-21 too, so I agree with those who have mentioned him. Plus it's virtually guaranteed that one of those two will be on the pitch, unlike Hammond (and probably Fonte). More consistency has to be a good thing.

Well one thing i thought watching England was that Hammond could do just as good of a job as Henderson..

Future Captain - James Ward-Prowse, no doubt about it.
But striker as a captain, no, can't lead the team aswell up top. I prefer CB or CM, because CM are involved heavily in attacks and when defending and the CB can see the whole pitch ahead of him, for the moment stick with Hammond, with Fonte backup but maybe Hooiveld could take the armband

Holt, Kevin Davis and RVP all captain their club sides off the top of my head. I'd have lambo because he'll ALWAYS play and theres a good chance he'll move towards midfield in the next few years.

Good call, but he'll have to communicate with flash cards, except with Foxy of course.

Interesting shout, J Rod beyond Lambert is certainly a good option.. so if we play 5 in midfield he would the one with the free role and possibly an armband..
