Hear me out - not to start!. But if we are drawing/losing a game nearing the 70th minute.. why not chuck Walcott on and leave him upfront for counters and through balls? p.s. im sick of manager bringing players like this on to make an impact in the 87th min. please least give them 10!
True, thats why I wouldnt start him there.. but i WOULD want to bring him on when everyones tired in the heat etc to use his pace and freshness after 70th min
Actually, it hurts me to say this as a Spurs fan, but he's a decent striker. Whenever I've seen him play up top he's looked very good (Croatia match for a start). It's the wing position where he seems to be out of his depth to me.
he has always considered himself a striker, running at goal and one on one he is very good and hard to stop if given the right service
Yea wouldn't mind to see him used as a sub in that position but as you say certainly not to start. Can be quite effective against a tired defence I think
He is a decent finisher until he has to actually think about what he's doing, tbf. Welbeck and Carroll are hardly great finishers, I'd say only Defoe and Rooney are better finishers.
Amazing, you were confident in Walcott, he done the job today, he proved me wrong as I admit, I doubted him.
He did today what Sven should've let him do six years ago. It'll be interesting to see who makes way for Rooney (and yes, Rooney is a nailed-on certainty to start, whether that's fair or not).
Yeah that is what I am wondering, seems a shame that it will probably be either Welbeck or Carroll dropped or both sadly as he may want one upfront.
Rooney should IMO, he is one of only two world class players in our squad and is the only really technically gifted player in our squad. Personally though, saying that, I would keep him on the bench for the Ukraine game.
Walcott should play more centrally but behind the striker, so he can run at the opposition. He started his career as a striker at Southampton and he really never has been a wide man.

Murray hasn't been proven wrong, to be fair. Carroll and Welbeck's finishes showed good technique whilst Walcott's was fortunate as it should've been a comfortable save and his best work came on the right wing. No disrespect to him because he did very well and should've had a second assist had Gerrard not selfishly taken the ball on When AOC was better positioned.
What? He had a great performance, but his goal was ... fortunate, to say the least. It was a somewhat weak shot straight at the center of the goal which fortunately the keeper was blindsided for. Have a watch. If the keeper had been able to see the shot, it was a comfortable save all day long. Walcott's a good player, but he showed his class on the wing, not in front of goal. The build-up and assist for Welbeck's goal was quality. EDIT: LOL, and looking at the Arsenal board, are you sure you should be having a go at me here, when you can't even convince Arsenal fans he meant to score?
