It's hard to call this, but it is my natural cynicism to facepalm when I read "news" that says we are interested in the same players that we were in April. I'm sure there are a few players that would be liked by both Kenny and Brendan, but I somehow doubt it...Gaston Ramirez for one, I'm inclined to shout "lazy jorno" but it could be true... can it?
I suppose our scouts will have reports on potential targets and Rodgers will look through them so we could still sign an older target. You are probably right though and it will be lazy Journalists throwing names around. There must be close to 100 players that we have been linked to since the seasons end.
I hope we do pursue with Gaston - looks like a bright talent. I wish we could pursue some of Rafa's original targets - reports suggest that Chelse are after Jovetic!
There are probably plenty of players out there that are linked with us that both managers would rate highly but it IS lazy journalism without a doubt. If I read it in The Echo then I give a story a bit more credence but until I see confirmation from the club I tend to believe very little of the transfer gossip....even if it comes from Skys sources
Kalou's agent spoke to the Echo and confirmed that the player would be interested in a move to Anfield. God help us if he joins.
I have heard that the names that we were looking at under Kenny this season b4 he was sacked were Gaston R,Matias S,Hoilett,Diame,Belhanda and Redmond from Birmingham, this is the guy that told me that LFC were gonna sign Adam n Downing last season Rumours are that after Hazard didnt sign for them Citeh are now in advanced talks for Gaston R I am sure there will be one or 2 names that Rodgers may want to add to the pile, but I think the initial targets that Kenny had is mind were the right sort of targets,and they were all achievable.Especially looking at the dross he identified as targets last season.If Kenny identified these sort or targets last season, he wouldnt have got the boot in the 1st place I am worried with us taking 2 weeks to sort out the managers situation,and there still is no clear idea whether a Txiki Begiristain type person is gonna come to form part of a "transfer team "or not.Yet again we seem to be lagging behind our competitors when it comes to targets, it seems to be the case, I hope the reality in this case is different
This could be true, it COULD be the case the only 2 British Club based players we are interested in are Hoilett and Diame, who have both run down there contract so cant sign for us until July 1st, even though the British window opened on June 1st. It could be that we are only interested in players from overseas and we arnt signing no one yet cos of there 1st july deadline, but saying that Chelsea have already got the Hazard deal boxed off so surely we could have deals already in place Rumours were rife the other day in Spain that we had offered to pay in full Llorente get out clause of over 30M euros .... rumours!!!And 3 days before he was in the media sayin haw he had spoke Xabi Alonso and Torres about "England" and he had been by advised them to go,as ther crowds/fans are great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not sure I'd want Llorente tbh. Fantastic player, but he's too similar to Carroll in what he does and therefore, not what we need (unless we sell Mandy, which isn't likely). Anyway, all our scouting reports/dossiers were handed over to Rodgers when he took over to look through. We might end up going for some of those, we might not, but being linked with them isn't necessarily lazy reporting. Ramirez is likely moving to $ity unfortunately.
Like every summer we will be linked with tonnes of great players then like last year we will end up with players like, Henderson, Downing and Adam.
All of whom are currently away at an international tournament representing their country after a season in which they all won their first domestic trophy.
Ignoring the faux par, I feel let down by DOwning tbh, I wasnt against his signing (but it was hardly earth shattering) and I am pretty surprised Henerson got called up for England tbh, he has been rot all season, I do hope he improves but he has been terrible for us all last season (my opinion ofc, and I am entitled to it, as you are to yours ofc).
I was only messin Ah. But it backfired on me bigtime. Tbf to last seasons signings they'll still be here next season(by the look of it)and Rodgers will get rid of who he doesn't want in the jan window or next summer. So if they want a career with us its up to them to get their heads down and impress the new manager.
