oh my good god. so you basically want to change RVP's position to the position he preferences, even though he has been on absolute fire in the current position since december 2010, and just ended the current season as top scorer in England. yeah, good thing your not managing Arsenal.

Why would you want change the position of a player, when he has scored more than 50 goals in that position in the last 2 seasons? As I told the other fella, good thing your not managing Arsenal.

I'm starting to see a bad pattern here amongst Arsenal fans, some calling Jenkinson top quality, one calling him the white Cafu, wasn't too long ago when you had fans calling for Frimpong to replace Song. And now we go to the next level of insane bat **** ideas of calling on RVP to be changed in positions.

Are we playing football manager, version dumb ass?

There is no need for you to childishly insult other members just because you disagree with their point of view <ok>

Because as it is we've won nothing this way - hopefully that player plus another striker will equal more goals. Duh.

i agree with your sentiment, but common man, common fella! it's just plain stupid to talk about changing RVP's role when he's one of the best scoring strikers in Europe right now, and the highest scorer in England. And he was talking about changing the role as in a way to suit RVP's game by playing him in more deep, erm, like his scoring stats of late don't prove he's enjoying his role as the main front man?

sometimes, you just gotta call it like it is.

He played deeper for the netherlands today, in the 2nd half. He was very impressive in that role.

I'm not saying he won't be impressive, but why on earth would you change something fantastic? His current role is going fantastically well, better than any of us could have ever dreamed off, so why change it? His goal scoring stats speak for themselves, and show there's nothing to change. Changing RVP's position (if he stays) is the LAST thing we need to be thinking of changing, it's the one very bright spot in this Arsenal team. Giroud can be RVP's back up, we have been crying out loud for a quality second striker to help with the burden, well that's what were hopefully getting with Giroud.

When RVP dropped back to a CAM position, he scored tonight, when he played as a striker he was dealt with quite easily. It ruffles peoples feathers if you try something daring, personally, i think RvP in the Bergkamp hole could be brilliant, pity Giroud is no Henry (Loic Remy would make more sense to sign if we're trying this formation)

He played behind the striker though. He's not a midfielder, even if you play the much vaunted 'CAM' role, you have to play in midfield, eg track back, mark and tackle a lot more than a forward would. The diamond rarely works anyway, and with that formation any team playing 4-5-1 with a mobile midfield would rip you apart, essentially having 3 on 1 on the counter attack worst case scenario.

But like the mackem said, Giroud is a good signing, I'd be more concerned about Podolski, he's not been at his best of late, and he DOES seem like the RVP replacement. You never know though.

Giroud is no Henry, but Podolski is a quick player with a lethal finish who can cut in from the left. Remind you of anyone?

Playing RVP in the hole is a great idea. Just because things are working now doesn't mean that they cannot be improved. We put too much responsibility onto RVP last season and spreading it out would benefit him and the team. Not only that but we had a creativity problem in the centre of the park, with none of our attack-minded midfielders truly delivering what we needed from them. Dropping RVP deeper eliminates the need for a new AM.

We had Anelka who was brilliant for us. We replaced him with Henry. Sometimes a winning formula can be improved tenfold.

RVP has always done his fair share of tracking back. For Holland he turned up at left back for 5 minutes whilst a player was receiving treatment. Maybe he is a total footballer, but I'm happy seeing him in the Bergkamp role for Arsenal.

What the fluck are you on about ?

The story about RVP comes from his dad directly ! The story about Giroud was taken by the BBC from another paper which actually only stated that the manager of the club Giroud is coming from claimed there are talks.

I'd be more assured by comments from a player's dad than 2nd or 3rd hand info about "talks".

You're just repeating your hot air. Loads of things are said in newspapers and reported in other media as a result ... the BBC doesn't report all of them. Only the ones which end up being true. You don't know what all their sources are.

Name an incident where the BBC has reported on a signing in this manner and it hasn't gone through.

You're trying to argue that some random comment in some paper made by the father of a player is a more trustworthy and dependable source than the BBC. Who, as you should have realised by now by your complete lack of ability to do what I'm asking you to, actually has the reputation.

RVP has many facets to his game, he is a multi skilled footballer that is more than just a CF. He can play a number of positions and to pigeon hole him into one positon is wrong, even if he's performing well.

Our system is suppose to be dynamic, where the front three are suppose to interchange and can act as a striker, winger and playmaker at any given time. With Giroud coming in, it gives us an extra dimension to our attack, a dimension that has been missing from us. RVP and Podolski have the skills to rotate and move all along the front three. Giroud seems to have the skills to interchange with RVP and the Pod, as well as act as a target man for knock ons for the other two, who have excellent striking ablity.

Yes, our default formation would be RVP in the centre, but sometimes we will come across teams that will park Thomas the Tank engine, so we need to find ways of getting through it. RVP isn't our only attacking force, we will have the Pod, Giroud, Walcott and others to step up and will do a job. Over reliance on RVP has and will kill us in the future.....

Anyone else a tad concerned that Pod, RvP & Giroud are ALL predominantly left footed?
