I'm pleased to see this FOPA mentioned in this forum already (although, the Formula One Photographers' Association may feel differently!?!). Anyway, it certainly has the potential to provide some balance in what has essentially become a global dictatorship, with the man at the helm playing off the various protagonists against each other –which includes, in my opinion; considerable effort to sabotage FOTA.

As for Spa: whilst international fans may lament it, one of this venue's biggest difficulties is that it is in Belgium. Yes, that may sound like a bizarre statement; but the fact is that as a nation, the Belgians have little interest in the F1 of modern times.

FOPA - may well become better known as 'faux pas'.

Perhaps the first FOPA could get an embarrassing pic of Bernie - and give it to the new FOPA?

I don't know what the circuits think they can do. Unlike the teams they can't threaten to pull out or break away because Bernie will just sell their slot in the calendar to someone else. If he wants to keep the historic venues on the track he'll no doubt just bribe them by offering them a half price contract.

Ever wonder how fast the medical car gets round these F1 tracks?

Bruno Senna has won the Lorenzo Bandini Trophy: http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2012/6/13454.html

Most random award I've ever heard of, they say it's traditionally award to drivers who've shown great promise at the beginning of their careers. Luca di Montezemolo won it when he was 49. <laugh>

<laugh> It got brought up in the Senna thread, no-one really understands it. Surely Perez and Maldonado would be more worthy recipients...

Also I think after Hamiltons win he's still the only driver to have won a F1 race in every season they've completed in?

Kind of a hybrid topic here but the Audi R18 e-tron quattro le man car used the Williams Hybrid Power flywheel KERS system last weekend, good investment into the system I imagine.

Why can't williams use it in F1 then? Would it give them too much of an advantage not having to carry around a big box?

WilliamsF1 developed their own flywheel-based KERS system but decided not to use it in their F1 cars due to packaging issues, and have instead developed their own electrical KERS system.

Translation: it's too big to fit in the car and keep it aerodynamic. Shame.
