http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/9450671.stm Thoughts? PS - I thought I'd discuss this on here where civilised conversation can be had without mass wummage
There's still a lot of "suck it and see" about FFP: http://www.sportingintelligence.com...-wages-dont-count-for-first-two-years-010205/ I think Abramovich has already started on his wage bill and I suspect Wilkins was part of that, too. City have still to address the issue but if they get Champions League to bring in extra income they'll have an easier time, which could be why they haven't done anything yet.
City are going to struggle with this massively. As the article states, they are ã110M in the red. That is a massive figure. They have to get into the Champions League and even if they do, they will still have quite a few players on massive wages who aren't really good enough. They would need to get rid of them players but then they would have to replace them players on high wages as well. Chelsea looked like they were trying to meet these rules by not spending massive money on players but then they started struggling and went out and spent ã70M on Torres and Luiz. I think we will just have to wait and see if Uefa really do clamp down on clubs which don't meet the guidelines.
City have got themselves in to quite the situation as they practically have to win the champions league next season and possibly the season after to be able to get themselves anywhere near the green Can they do this without spending? Hell no, they couldn't beat Dynamo Kyiv over 2 legs
City have now more or less bought the squad they want full of young players so it should now be a case of the odd player here and there plus transfer fees are likely to plummet over the next few years as clubs just won't have the budgets.Of all the clubs around us Chelsea and utd have ageing squads so will need to invest fairly heavily over the next couple of years because the CL cash will be crucial to generate the income needed to comply.Arsenal have no defence or keeper, spurs just dont have the depth in the squad to cope with CL and premier league football and from what I've seen of Liverpool it's arguably the weakest squad of players in three decades so for Dalglish to get back in the top 4 will need some heavy investment. There certainly doesn't seem to be much panic in the city camp with the FFP and the season ticket prices are to stay the same next season so they aren't looking to the fans to sort the problem out.The naming rights for the ground are being sold which I imagine will recoup a chunk of it (Etihad airways are the favourite apparently) Lots of experts and so little knowledge from what I see
City have bought a squad full of young players.Since when were Vincent Kompany YoYo Toure and Gareth Barry and Scarface Tevez ''Young Players''. I think you should change ''Young Players'' to ''Mercenaries''. Anyway Citeh aren't ã110 million in the red,the figure is closer to ã148 million according to reports.Chavski are second, and Man Yoo are 3rd with the biggest losses.
City will increase and infact are increasing earnings, they have put the team together need the exposure and he presto more sales more endorsements for the club more TV rights and more earnings from comps hopefully for them too. Players will also leave in the next two years. Look, all a club like that or UNited Liveprool or Chelsea has to do is if they are 25m short, they can do some sort of Sponsirship or other type of deal for that amount and hey presto the books are green or in madrids case, sell your training ground to the government for that amount and the gov build you another one for free. City will be well aware of this new rule and how to tackle it, ffs these are businessmen they do this for a living and all the numpties saying this and that about city and chelsea, must make these actual successful businessmen laugh
Bringbackfootee. I agree with your points. This is the reason why I still believe FSG will make Liverpool successful on and off the pitch.FSG own a marketing company.A marketing company markets its assets. It promotes its assets in untapped areas and sells the brands.FSG now own two massive brands. So they are going to market both to the hilt. I believe that working with Lebron James is one of their ways of selling the club in the Far East,Yesterday they announced that they are working in tandem, and today they've announced a middle east tour. This tour is not a pre-season kick-about.Okay it is from a footballing perspective. There is money to be made and FSG will ensure the brand is sold. They will aggressively market the club.Seeing as they have the means to do so.
within the last week Uefa have said that 'fake' sponsorship deals and work-arounds will not be allowed. We've expressed doubts about this though and I believe it was Ian Ayre who said that since Liverpool doubled their sponsorship deal this year how could Uefa spot foul play when our club legitimately changed its income so drastically. I'm sceptical but it's definitely a good thing for Liverpool
It's farcical really It's like a local council trying to dictate to tescos or shell Platini is very naive if he thinks the money men of these big clubs give two ****s about his regulations
Exaclty, these guys have been working around national and international law, and regulators(Laugh), never remind a bunch of bureaucrats and retired footballers. City and Chelsea will be fine come the new rules. UEFA and FIFA are blindly arrogant institutions. Banning Trin&tobago after they left the tournament after a fking gun attack on their team bus!?!?!?!?!?!?! A ****ing joke. Blatter never in his fat arsed life played a good game of football, why the fk has he been in control for so long, atleast Platini played the game
Instead of the ridiculous unworkable FFP regulations I think everyone would have been much happier to see a wage cap introduced and technology brought in.It would also have been quite simple to create a system where a percentage of all premier league transfer fees were payed to the governing body to fund a coaching programme throughout the schools to stop the lump it long attitude which is rife and so damaging to the future development of the game in this country
I don't mind the FFP to be quite honest; it shouldn't affect English clubs too much as most of them are quite good with money. It will shift power around though; as many teams do well because they have rich owners and in the fairness of the game it's a good move. I'm glad that UEFA have actually tried to do something that will pull the game back to it's roots, when you couldn't spend more than you earned, because you just didn't have the money. This will hopefully stop sugar daddies buying clubs and will allow transfer fees and wages to stabilize a bit more. There is also the thought that we are in the best position for the FFP at the moment with the 2nd best revenue in the league behind Man Utd, and owners who are willing to spend big money come summer before the new regulations. The only downside to this that I can see is the potential rise in ticket prices and merchandise price raises; all this to fund more player sales - whilst a good fan would buy it so that the club can afford better talent, most people just can't afford it - so it's going to be cutting more of the average joes out of the game.
Kingpepereina City squad ages HART 23 GIVEN 34 KOLEROV 25 BRIDGE, 30 RICHARDS, 22 KOMPANY 24 TOURE, Kol 30 LESCOTT 28 ONUOHA, 24 BOATENG, 22 ZABALETA, 26 WRIGHT-PHILLIPS, 29 DE JONG, 26 TOURE, Yayá27 BARRY, 30 MILNER, 25 VIEIRA, 34 JOHNSON, Michael23 SILVA, 25 JOHNSON, Adam 23 TEVEZ, 27 BALOTELLI, 20 JO, 24
''Young players;'' counts as under 25. City have 9 players in their squad that are under 25.So the notion that they invested in a ''young squad'' is farcical. So I am in fact correct. How many of those players will they make a profit on if they decide to sell any of them.Again the answer is 9.Most of them have little or no re-sale value. As they over-paid on most of them.ã24 million on Lescott. He was just about worth the ã5 million the BS paid for him.
The problem is - this squad: cost a hell of a lot of money, yet when I look at it it doesn't really look like a special squad. If you'd have given that type of money to Rafa at Liverpool - we'd have ended up with a top class squad because he wouldn't need to buy dross to fill out the squad. I'd be more worried about the fact Man city and Chelsea have more money than they know what to do with, so they end up spending 50m on Torres and 30 odd million on Robinho, Managers really need to be doing their homework on the type of players they want.
I agree with that. How many players have they got there that aren't similar.City's squad is hugely inbalanced. They spent too much money on players that are practically the same. They had Balotelli and Adebayor and signed Dzeko. What was the point of that? When you make signings they must be improvements on what you have at your disposal.Thats clever management.Half of the signings City made were out of greed and were pointless.City spent a lot of money to finish in the top 4,and thats all they'll achieve with their current squad. They will have to rebuild it again to finish higher. And add difference to it.
