Bastards! Great price as well! Doesn't necessarily mean RVP will leave. To me just seems like AW's trying to create a squad with strength in depth. Lets be honest, you guys have been lacking up front when RVP hasn't played. Chamakh and Park just aren't good enough.
If Wenger has been down to Montpellier to give a cheque for Giroud's transfer - could he stop off at Rennes and buy M'Vila on his way back- - pretty please?

Looks like a great team IMO add Walcott, OX & Gervinho and we have a very good forward line that shouldnt be lacking in goals. If we can get Podolski (already done) Giroud, M'Vila i would be very happy expecially if we keep RVP too. Maybe think we could do with may 1 CB if JD leaves and 1 AM as i still think Rosicky is tripe but then i might be getting greedy.
Is nobody else thinking that they'd also like to see some transfer activity in the opposite direction to balance these new signings out?
This signing would cover both outcomes, if we are to challenge for the league title we need 2 quality strikers that can play together and also on their own. RVP can't play every game, I have a feeling this is why his form over the last 2 months of the season dropped. If podolski plays out left, then RVP and guild will rotate, one will play CL and the other will play the league, and vice verca. Also it would put RVP under a bit more pressure, at present RVP could play terrible and still would not be dropped, if he was having a poor run of form, he would know that there would be someone ready to jump into his place, that's something that we haven't had for a while. On the other hand if RVP is going to leave, at least wenger has learnt from last year and got someone in early, so all round this would be a great signing no matter what happens.
If van Persie stays then we could be seeing this front 4 Walcott - van Persie - Podolski Giroud With Song and Arteta as the holding midfielders.
Not Wumming Giroud looks a good signing, but with PSG spending 46m euros on Thiago Silva today really think this will be RVP last season at Arsenal PSG,wanna spend big,Milan have cash to spend Juve have already said interested, and if Tevez leaves Citeh for Milan or PSG now, RVP is who Citeh will want
Think I read somewhere that 13m was his buy-out clause. I'd still expect Chamakh, Bendtner and a few others to go out to balance the wages.
Definitely looks like a good box player and would complement RVP and Podolski nicely. Wonder where this leaves Theo?
I think we need cover for a creative type though, so I'm quite surprised that we got 2 forwards if we didn't think it's highly unlikely that RVP stays... Wilshere has been out for longer than Ramsey was for his double fracture, and we know how that went. If Rosicky goes missing again for large portions of the season, and Arteta gets injured we will be worse off than the previous season, even with these 2 signings and RVP staying.
Yeah possibly but then Wenger sees Oxo as an attacking mid so he may think that's enough cover. (there's also Diaby ) I personally want to see a top class defensive signing either a DM or CB.
RVP will not go to China, Russia or France - so the big spenders there may as well forget it. He won't go to Chelsea (London rivals) and Man U can't afford him, so that leaves Spain, Italy and City. His dad says no chance to going to an Arsenal rival so that leaves Spain and Italy. Italy has slipped back in the pecking order behind Spain and England ..... so can't see him going there. Which leaves Spain. Barcelona style would suit him especially because they are in desperate need for a striker .... but would he go there ?? We wouldn't need to change formation to accommodate Giroud and even if we did, no big deal.
Why does RVP need to go? Assuming we give him a nice payrise and we look to be getting people in to strengthen the team, why not stay? If we manage to get M'Villa then we should be good to go. This is good news which hopefully will make RVP stay. Unless of course, it is already agreed that he would go.....
If it means we never play Gervinho again its a good thing , a very good thing. WHAT a waste of money .! The breeze from a passing gnat could knock Gerv off the ball.
I swear most of you must have a memory of 7 days at most. Gervinho will be fine next season, and probably among our top 5 players. (He was among our top 3-4 for the first half of the season before he went to Africa)
I think if we get Giroud, what that means is that Podolski will mainly be utilised on the left wing and Giroud will be our actual 2nd striker on the bench behind RVP, and the one who would fill in for RVP incase he gets injured or needs a rest. So basically on the left we have Podolski and Gervino, on the right we have Theo and OXO, and upfront we have RVP and Giroud and hopefully Joel Campbell (he will be like a brand new signing) too. In the middle we will have Rosicky, Arteta, Song, Wilshere, Diaby, Ramsey, Coquelan, and hopefully an additional midfield enforcer (M'villa). And that right there is starting to look like a real covered squad.
