    HUURRARARRRGHK.

Off-topic postage here, but I don't suppose anyone goes to the gym regularly? Likes to keep fit? Likes to build some muscle?

I'm not a big guy at all, but I'm currently trying to put something on. Currently have 300g of pasta and two cans of tuna in front of my face. Stupidly large amount of food which is going to make the next 30 mins somewhat unpleasant.

Yes mate, I'm an avid gym goer. If your trying to gain weight/mass/muscle high protein is the way ahead. Milk , steak , tuna , milk ect. Also get your self on
    creatine /protein powder shakes.

Ayee I've got it all planned out. 230g of protein a day. About 3500 cals. This food alone is 60g of protein but it's hard to keep the eating up. As they say though, lift heavy, eat heavy.

I did it before a few years back, but this is the first time I've went 100% with the heavy high protein and high calorie eating, along with heavy deadlifts and squats at the gym.

  8. Why are you eating things like that at quater to ten at night? It's not healthy to eat this late.

    Defo lift heavy.
A good starting routine for bulking i've used.

Concentrate on 1 muscle group at a time (gym session) . 5 x 10 reps on each exercise you do. you want to be aiming for 5-6 different exercises per muscle group.
so, 5 x 10 reps on 6 different exercises if that makes sense.

Try and lift as heavy as you can but don't over do it.

Because that's how the body builds muscle. If you lift very heavy and completely **** over your muscles, they need a mega supply of protein and calories to repair and grow, along with carbs to provide energy. Gotta keep eating cos my body needs it.

Anyway, I'll be awake until 2am tonight probably, so this meal will tide me over four hours before I sleep. Just need a protein shake before bed. Happy days.

Agree with this. Try and lift as much as you can BUT with good form, that's the most important thing.

I go down a different route for hypertrophy mate. 6x4 reps and two exercises per muscle area - along with deadlifts and squats. I do whole body exercises 3 times a week, so each muscle group has two days to recover and grow. However, this high intensity approach only works if you lift enough weight so you cannot do another rep on the final set of 6 reps. Has to be heavy enough so your lasts reps are pretty much to failure. It's this extreme intensity which shocks your muscles into growing to adapt.

With the weight I lift, I couldn't get anywhere near 5x10. 6x4 really is it, and my body is shot.

PS: Nice and slow as well, so the TUT (time under tension) is high enough.

Try decreasing the amount your lifting. You dont need to lift as heavy as you can to gain mass.
On the routine I mentioned, I forgot to say the last set of reps you do has to be an Isolation set.

I'm a pretty fat bloke, I used to go to the gym fairly regularly but offset any benefits with alcohol, cigs, and junk food. Now I just offset, haha

recently i havent had much time to go to the gym.
so the only exercise I get these days is jumping around on stage when I'm gigging - I play old-skool rave records to drunk people in clubs for a living, so there is ample opportunity for jumping about, but its only once or twice a week....

though last week I fell off stage after too much booze. Stage dived into an empty crowd, you could say... arm is black & blue, still got a limp a week later. FAIL.
