I've started this as an argument, not malicious or anti anybody on this site because you're all my fellow Spurs supporters and therefore the ones I respect the most but WHY THE F*CK Moyes? I don't see why so many of you want him. He always start piss poorly every season for Everton and has no European experience and I see no great flamboyance in their football and I see him as a dour character not suited to us. I repeat, this is not with malicious intent to any of you Spurs lads.
The main bullet points: * His teams are more disciplined defensibly than we are * His teams are effective from set pieces, which we aren't * He doesn't shoot his mouth off to the press, like Harry does * Everton play some good stuff when they have their first team available * He can work with the squad he's got, rather than the First XI plus a couple of subs * He's done a very good job at Everton with no money, so if he had a budget for players he could do a lot more
For me, what Everton have done on a budget is fantastic. You never get any of their players hankering for moves, it appears they want to play for Moyes. The football Everton play is pretty good, especially considering their players. He would organise our already impressive squad. We would be more organised defending set pieces and we'd score from a fair few more too i'd wager. If he could bring the real Pienaar with him then we could sell Modders and splash the cash elsewhere (hmmm, Jelavic???) The slow starting is a worry, i have to admit. I've often wondered whether its because they tend to use the loan market and maybe they come in late in the day and the team doesn't click straight away.
I like Moyes. Gets the best from his players and deserves a crack at a club with a bit of money to see how wisely he can spend and to also manage players (with all due respect to Everton) with a bigger reputation. Hopefully will continue the Tottenham tradition of attacking football though However, he's not my first choice to replace Redknapp should he go. I'd like Martinez. Plays the game in the right way, works with a low budget and always seems to have a respectful presence throughout the game. Redknapp came from a relegation threatened side and done wonders, don't see why Martinez can't follow suit. My overall preference though is for 'Arry to stay.
Who else would you suggest? Most of the top managers mentioned would cost a lot even if they were interested and most have never had any great success without spending massive budgets that we simply don't have. Moyes makes shrewd signings and despite losing some of his best players before most seasons as Everton can't compete financially he's still kept Everton up there in the top half. I think he's done a fantastic job there and deserves the chance at a better club and would suit what we're trying to do very well.
In reference to the slow start question, West Ham and Pompey both tended to have a slow starts when Harry was in charge, but that hasn't been the case at Spurs (with the exception of the season that just finished, which can be put down to our central midfield being injured or unsettled, plus Parker and Ade hadn't been brought in earlier)
Wouldn't all of you prefer a more high profile name like Ancelotti or Klopp? Pienaar and Saha wanted to move on from Everton Spurfectionist. We went on a good unbeaten run a few times under Harry so I don't see Moyses' Everton as better defensively as we are. The set pieces I agree with you that we are crap. The slow starting is more than a worry. I find it interesting that Moyes wants to leave Everton just as speculation is rife that Arry's leaving us. Croydon,we already play better stuff than Everton. Thanks so far for the feedback.
Because i want us to sign Felliani..and Moyes can bring him with him. apart from that side note i think as mentioned above by a few...Moyes has qualities that we seem to lack. My worrying point with Moyes would be if he wasted talent or did not give players a chance..but this does not seem to be a problem..so our flair players would still be able to express themselves..but on top of that i am sure he would add some true steel to the team...id say the way he utlisies his squads that he is a better man manager than HR. His teams always have poor starts you say..however they also have magnificent finishes....i think with a better set up something like a poor start can be ironed out...however the thing that is difficult to do is to keep players fresh in the run in to the end of the season and keep them motivated..he does that well. on top of that he still thinks he has alot to achieve and prove so will definately have his head down and also he is an expert in managing the the PL. nobody comes with a guarantee for success..and we may even take a few steps back before we take some forward...but his credentials are ideal for us...my only concern would be if he has the same kind of charisma and depth of know how like Ancelotti....but im struggling to see anyone of that ilk coming here...Capello maybe? id like him at spurs too...but other than that id be happy with Moyes and for the reasons stated. This does not mean i want Harry gone...as every day passes i just want him to buckle down and manage our team fully focused..but he keeps on derailing this himself..so what will be will be...im sure we will back HR to the tilt if he is still our gaffer.
Yid,Klopp or Ancelotti. The latter won the double with Chelsea and Klopp transformed Dortmund. Croydon,it's been the other way around with Harry,he starts well here and then fades. Twice now he's done that.
How would we fit him in? He's no replacement for Modric, more like a Sandro and we already have Sandro.
i think he is much more refined than Sandro as a footballer...and can play more than Parker..id be looking to have Sandro and Parker fighting with him for the starting berth...not sure if they would be happy about that but competition is important for a club like ours who always want to move up a notch without using splashing the cash as an only option like Chelsea.I do believe he is a better footballer than them two...and on some away days a midfield with Felliani and Sandro would be hell to play against. Parker is very good at what he does..but he cant really pass for toffee(see what i did there)..Felliani is the best all round footballer out of the 3..and bags a few goals for Everton aswell...no way can adding him be a step back...or sideways for that matter.
West Ham's seasons never got started until late September at the earliest when Harry was in charge. A lot of this can be put down to the chopping and changing of personnel on the pitch - but Pompey tended to fade towards the end of the season when their squad was settled (the season they won the FA Cup, they had a long losing run towards the end of the season)
Why would they want to come? Klopp's seeing his project come to fruition at Dortmund, I couldn't see him leaving there unless someone came in with silly, silly money. Same with Ancelotti, he's on good money at PSG and would cost a lot to get in even if he was interested, I'd have thought.
One of the best questions to ask any potential manager as unless a manager comes for the right reasons then it will end in failure but going back to the reason you posted that question, managers aren’t just going to leave successful projects to come and manage us, unless its for money and we all saw what happened the last time we went for a foreign manager.
Sandro can be a bit sloppy at times but he's still improving and needs more playing time, not less. We also have Livermore and Huddlestone so I'm not sure spending around £20mill on a player when he can't offer the passing range of Modric, if he left. If Modric didn't leave we're spending a huge amount on adding to one of our strongest positions when we need 2 new strikers, atleast 1 winger, a centre back and possibly a left back. We aint made of money!
I can see were spurlock is coming from as I rate Felliani in the same manner as he does, however im a huge fan of sandro and while he does still need to adapt to the english game, I feel overall he is a better prospect then Felliani and also technically a better footballer.
Why Moyes? Well there are many reasons, most of which have been aired already. We have to be realistic, we have no CL to offer, and we don't pay anything like top dollar. Mourinho, Ancelotti? Yes please, i'd like either one, But, it AIN't Gonna happen! So, being realistic about who we can attract, and who we can afford, I think Moyes is he best bet. I could add that he spotted Jelavic - we didn't nor anybody else of note.
I agree. Sandro is a world class player in the making - if handled correctly. Superb athlete, good skills, great engine. Just needs to sharpen up positionally. That will come, IF he gets enough game time.
its true i wouldnt throw 20 million for him...we can rely on chelsea to throw away money...and i wouldnt want him as a replacement for Modric...but maybe Parker.....but as you say we have Livermore and Hudd.....so all in all it wont happen. i just read yesterday that Felliani was bemoaning that he wasnt playing Europa...not the typical i want CL football they all come out with....and ive always hated watching him play against us...so wouldnt say no..but not for 20 million. Evar Banega to replace Modric i hope.
Fair enough. Fellaini was bought for around £16mill, I think, so I can't see them selling for less. I really rate him too but we just don't have the room for him, in my opinion, and I'd rather we went for someone cheaper like Nzonzi instead.
