New mod - QPR NUTS

Dear Members

You will see from the bottom of the Threads Page that we have a new mod, an excellent candidate. I would like to congratulate QPR NUTS on his appointment and am sure you will join me in welcoming him to this position. NUTS will be working with BrixtonR - a great team - and I will stand down as mod over the next week or so.

When I took on the role originally, a second mod was needed quickly, and Brix and I did what was expedient. There were some thoughts expressed on the board that perhaps the process was a little undemocratic. I had sympathy with that. Brix and I have looked into a system for voting in mods, but unfortunately it is a no-go. The guys upstairs that run this site want to be sure they can work with whoever is appointed, and therefore expect recommendations from the existing mods. It works for them across the boards and you can see their point of view.

If there had been a vote, in my view, Brix would have won hands down - he's outstanding, has great judgement and people skills - we are lucky to have him and speaking personally, it has been a great privilege to work with him. For my part, I felt it was time to move aside and give another member an opportunity to mod. New blood coming in is good - it brings new approaches and new ideas - and we have a first class candidate in NUTS.

Brix has got a heavy work schedule today so he asked me to include the following message from him in this thread:

NUTS has long impressed me with his forthright, well argued opinions on all things Rangers. I know he is popular with many of you as a passionate supporter of both club and board. (I would add that neither Roller nor Northolt were considered since both have said they wouldn't be up for modding.)

Like Goldie and I in our careers, NUTS is no stranger to responsibility and decision-making; and also like us he will not go looking for issues but rather deal firmly but fairly with those that from time to time arise. He will, like us, rely upon the regular posters on here to self-moderate and let us know when you think someone has taken things a step too far.

I for one am very confident that we've picked a popular choice in offering the position to NUTS, and hope the majority of you will either agree with or simply trust us to have done the right thing for all concerned.

So an new era - my thanks to all of you for your support during my tenure - our board goes from strength to strength. We have two great mods - NORTHOLT is back with his massive contributions - an early summer of Sparky acquisitions - and I can't wait for the 2012/13 season to begin. I think it could be something special - but then I'm an r's fan and always stay optimistic!
