I would guess that we might buy 5 new players as well...perhaps spending about 16 mill in all (inc. JRod's 6 mill). Obviously Jay is our biggest purchase, but you never know with Nicola.
Definitely need a keeper to challenge KD at least. Strong commanding CB next Then an athletic box to box midfielder who can pass and score.
I don't care to persuade anyone on this forum that we need a new CM as I'm just staying my opinion. I just feel CM is not a position you want to be left short or without appropriate options in the premier league. We have players who all fulfil a similar role in centre mid. Hammond is also a definite question mark at premiership level and Chaplow was not highly enough thought of in centre mid to get a place there all last season (though granted that's his better position) The top 6 teams all have 5/6 central midfield players as they tend to play with either 2 holding players and one attacking or vice versa. We're short of those options. That's not to say what we have won't take to the league by storm but I really feel a Danny Guthrie type player would add a great deal to the side, not just for experience but a little more forward thinking creativity. One thing I did notice at the back end of last season was Guly playing a holding central midfield role....and from what I saw he did it well. Suggested to me that Adkins wanted to try more options in that area. Maybe Adkins is satisfied but I would not be surprised at all to see new blood in central midfield. I would also bet that Cortese and Adkins will have looked at what Newcastle did to progress back in the premiership....they brought in Cabaye and Tiote and who can deny what those two have done for them.
GK (butland) CB (unknown) RM (De Bruyne loan) These are the top three and everything else I feel would be if the right player came at the right place to take a chance CM (trotter) RB () LB CB
