Perhaps someone can correct me, but did imagine reading somewhere recently that Rotherham were interested in Robbie Brady for next season. If I didnt imagine it and he goes there, he will tear up that league next season!
Yeah there was something where Steve Evans had said it was unlikely or something. Probably in the same way it's unlikely we will sign luka modric
Hang on, Steve Evans is interested in Brady, sorry but isn't Brady one for the future in terms of United, what usually happens with United players is they spend a season in the Championship then go back and shine, not spend a season in the Championship then drop to League 2. Steve Evans is a crap manager, he goes around naming his specific transfer targets for Rotherham, which is starting to piss off other managers and their players. Arn't managers meant to keep their transfer targets confidential untill they place a bid?
Brady is obviously very talented. He doesn't always make the right decisions but he can work on that in time, whereas a **** player who tries hard and makes the right decisions will never gain the ability. He made a few goals for us last season, not often enough, but none of our wingers did. Clearly we had a problem with getting the ball to our wingers and giving them opportunities to run at their man.
To be fair to that fat twat Evans, he didn't volunteer the information, he was asked if he'd spoken to Man United about Brady and if there was a chance of him joining and he said he'd love have him, but he was obviously going to play at a higher level and it wasn't going to happen. I get the impression that they wanted a loan and Man United are trying to flog him, £450k is the figure being bandied about on the Rotherham boards.
I think he is better than Stewart, although I think if Stewart works hard next season he can become a quality player, but it's about attitude in football, you can be either a Championship player earning alot of money, or you can be a Premier League player that people will remember, hopefully Bruce can tell Stewart this important message, and tell it to the entire squad, if he does that we will definitely be a Premier League team next season, they all have the ability, they need to prove it though.
Come on OLM, you took the piss when I suggested a rumour from football-rumours.com, don't you start you hypocrite!!!
It's hardly a football-rumours story, Evans has confirmed he did speak to Man United about him, he's never going to play for United and I do expect they're trying to flog him(they've already had a go at flogging him to us).
It flashed up on SSN over the weekend and i nearly dropped my beer. Steve Evans denied he/Rotherham were after Brady. FFS, did not SAF say that he wanted Brady back for pre-season to run the rule over him.? Maybe Man Utd will do us a bogof deal with Brady then. ?
I think he means as a player on the pitch, in regards to passing decisions, in that case Stewart Downing needs to learn when to run and when to PASS
To be honest I think he only just thinks fits into League 2 I think he would tear up Non League though
He did OK in the FA Cup vs a very average Ipswich which suggests L1 or L2 is his level.. think we overestimated him following the goal pre-season vs Liverpool.. frustrating player
Do you know if we've distanced ourselves completely from a move? Agreed. Why not? 20 is still very young.
Some people on here talk some absolute bollocks at times. Saying Brady is conference and league 2 standard, might not be as daft as saying we can get Campbell back from the Mackems now Bruce is here, but it's getting there. Some say Fryatt is ****e, yet he scored 16 goals off scraps last season. If we had someone else upfront, better than Adebola or Mclean, he'd do better. Brady's form has been indifferent, but he can work on it. There's definitely some champiosnhip quality there. Stewart's the same.
Agreed. He had wobbly patches, but it was his first taste of first team action in his career so of course he's going to have bad and good parts. the PL reserve league isn't the same standard as the Championship. He had a good shot on him, he troubled defenders and he had quick feet. The lad made 39 appearances last season for us, it's kind of a sign that the management saw his ability and agreed that he had earnt a place in the squad. If he is available for 450k, I'd snap their hand off, because he'll probably be worth at least treble that in two years.
Can't say I was particularly happy with him last season but despite that, he's clearly got some natural talent and would probably be worth a punt at £450k, especially considering our lack of wingers. Having said that, if our budget isn't great (The Allams will stop somewhere, even if they have said they'll take it on a deal-by-deal basis) then that £450k could go towards paying for the likes of Mannone, or someone who knows where the goal is.
