I've just been talking to a Mackem mate of mine and he thinks Craig Gordon will go to Celtic, but.....

He reckons Titus Bramble could well come to us as a/ he needs a new start, and b/ SB likes him. (= CD)
He also thinks Conor Wickham could join us as he isn't getting game-time under MON. (= ST)
Finally, Ahmed Elmohamedy could come on loan, despite the Hammers' move rumour. ( = RW/RB)

He follows strikers round like a stray dog as well - normallly about a yard behind them. Surely we can do better than Titus 'wandering hands' Shambles?

He's ****, make no mistake about it, but Bruce will roll him out as a 'proven PL defender' or some such tosh!!

The first signing Bruce makes has to be a statement of intent, Titus Bramble would give out the wrong message

I would be amazed to see Titus Shambles join Hull City. I dont think the Allams would like someone like that at the club. We have had King and Bullard we dont need another type like that. 2 + 2 again and i just dont see it happening.

Mr Desperate @ Lesta can go in for Shambles if Slumberland want rid.

To be fair I don't rate Titus Bramble but to think we could attract better is being a bit optimistic

Why not go the full hog and have McShane at full back and Kilbane at left back. A quality back four ? <whistle>

You think ? We can attract much better i would suggest. Both on and OFF the pitch.

He's a 30 year old who has been a premier league defender for at least a decade so to think we are too big a club for him is a bit exaggerated

Thats not the point i was getting at. I dont have a problem with Brambles footballing ability MORE to do with his off field abilities and activities.

Yes you do, thats why you sarcastically said "Why not go the full hog and have McShane at full back and Kilbane at left back. A quality back four?"

Titus Bramble is an "A" grade Kamil Zayatte.................. my nerves couldn't stand to watch him in the tigers strip.

Bramble has actually become a lot better than he was. At Newcastle he was pretty dire, but at Wigan and Sunderland has been a fairly steady centre half. I think his reputation has just stuck with him and you don't remain a regular in the top flight for this long if you're absolutely terrible.

Bramble is a very committed decent premiere league defender... ...most of the time, he also has the same gene David James has, which is the 'Blunder gene', which pops it's head out now and then.

It'll be a talking point if we sign him though.

He's not shockingly bad, certaintly not bad enough for the Championship, it's his reputation of stupid mistakes that lead people to think he's crap, he'd be ok untill Hobbs came back, he wouldn't be so mistake prone if the pressure of Premier League was on him

Yeah, back in the Championship he'd be a better player to get than Heskey (not that I don't want Heskey), only because he's young and faster, he's a slightly better version of Waghorn

What are his off field activities that you dont like. Was it the alleged drugs and sexual offences ? Remember he was found not guilty on one case and released without charge on the other. An inniocent man in both cases

    Zayatte was good!

I tend to agree with the poster who said Bramble isn't that bad. He has this reputation but can anyone actually give me an example of something he's done wrong in the last 3 years? If not, an example of something he's done wrong ever? It sounds to me like one of these situations where the name alone gives people an opinion of the player...

I've always had doubts about Wickham. I just don't see what he's actually done to have this massive reputation, I remember having a debate with a Sunderland fan last summer who was really excited about the signing. Wickham got into the Ipswich side at a young age, but he didn't score a load of goals and wasn't a particular star for them that season (the one before last) he didn't even play a load of games, he was often a benchwarmer, then suddenly PL teams want to pay millions for him? I don't get it. He still hasn't proven himself at any level.

He is quite good, like I said he's very similar to Waghorn but his finishing is better and he's an all round better version of him, Heskey is a good target man to play with Fryatt but he lacks goals and pace, imagine Wickham playing along Fryatt, perfect Championship strike partnership in my opinion, Fryatt likes playing with a strong target man to set up a lot of goals for him, Wickham could do that and score a couple himself, he's no star by any means yet but for now he could be the Ricky Lambert style striker everyone wants at the club, one season on loan couldn't hurt in the slightest. Perhaps after his huge transfer fee he can try and prove himself at Championship level before going back to the Premier League a much better player
