Leeds boss rules out move for QPR star

    Shaun Derry
LEEDS United boss Neil Warnock has ruled out a move for QPR midfielder Shaun Derry.

The former R's manager had been linked with a summer raid of his old club, with keeper Paddy Kenny, defender Clint Hill and Derry reportedly on his radar.

Warnock is still hopeful of capturing Kenny once QPR have signed another first-choice keeper, while Hill is poised to sign a new one-year deal at Loftus Road.

But the United chief is not interested in bringing Derry, who is entering the final year of his contract in W12, to Elland Road.

The 34-year-old made 78 appearances for Leeds during three seasons for the Yorkshire club before being brought to Crystal Palace by Warnock in 2008.

But the Chronicle understand he won't be rejoining his old boss again.

Hopefully MH will keep Derry on as a squad player, unless Palace come in for him...

Shaun has been havin injections in his back all season to combat the pain! I've been told that Derry will stay at LR, until the end of his contract and then retire....

I think that he will be invaluable behind the scenes, moreso than on the pitch.

I think Derry should stay and concentrate this year on doing his coaching badges, he'll make an excellent coach. Hopefully Hughes will give him a role behind the scenes and he'll move in to management soon enough.

Derry has reminded me of how a professional football should behave.

As it stands now he is our only apparently available central defensive midfield player for the start of the season, unless we call SWP one of them now! I expect him to get some time on the park next season too.

Dont think he'll get a lot of game time, but def deserves to see his contract out.

Could turn into a great coach and role model for the kids...
