Yankee, it won't be £14 million, mate. IF Huw is going to be true to his word and appoint a TOP CLASS manager, I would guess that a chunk of the money we got for Rodgers will go towards funding the new guy.

Of course, if Huw does go cheap then I will assume that the club is banking the cash and preparing for life in the Championship again.

Can I join in this gloom-and-doom party or is it a private affair?

If this, if that, etc, it's just a waste of effort really.

Instead of deriding huw , why don't you just wait for an announcement from the club Superswan ?

So, because no-one is deriding someone that means you have to? Good logic.

Apparently Johan Cruyff has come from nowhere to be 10/1...

campion, no doom and gloom at all. Just stating a fact in my first paragraph and an opinion in the second. If Huw does appoint Jones, I ask again, how does that equate with his statement about employing a top class coach?

With due respect to Jones, no one could be accused of mistaking him as "top class". He might become so in the fullness of time but, at this point in time, he has never been a manager of any class as he has never, ever, been a manager. For me, should he be appointed it would smack of a lack of ambition by our Board.

I find it difficult to believe this because so far they have been great for us. But this persistence with Jones is incomprehensible when there are so many other better candidates out there, Laudrup being just one of them. As it happens, I don't believe that Jones will get it but I do find the speculation interesting.

Scott, Cruyff is just behind Stuart Pearce?????????????? in the betting. Please, God, NO!!!!!!!!!!

Shame that Poyet has fallen away because I think he is the type of guy that could do a good job for us.

I think Poyet would be too expensive when the compo is weighed against his experience? Just signed a mega new contract so I think he's out of the running...

I think it's Johan, not Jordi, mind...

You forgot something Superswan you don't know either ! And I still fail to see that ridiculing huw on here gets you anywhere, obviously people will come to their own conclusions without the help of you repeating ad nauseam your dislike of the man.

Talked to a solicitor from JCP Solicitors and he said they had drawn up the contract for the new manager to sign.

Unfortunately he wouldn't say whose signature will be on it . . .

But he didn't deny, when asked, that it was Michael Laudrup - if that means anything.

No doom & gloom here from me campionijack , all ahead full like any other season . A lot of guys that are glooming now are the same ones that were dooming the 2nd half of last season .

8 or so million made off of Martinez & Rodgers .... I wouldn't be saying to much about Huw's " Cheap options " Dai , his cheap options up to this point are partially responsible for multi -promotions & a bit of money made while he was at it .

Ivor ... why not 14. If we get Laudrup, as a free agent we would not need to sepend any cash on releasing him from his current contract. There might be a signing bonus, but that would be a small percentage of the 14. The bulk of it would be available for player acquisition plus whatever else the club had budgeted for players in addition to Sig; with our problems at center back we would have budgeted money to strengthen in that position ... I presume.

Yankee.... I was thinking a chunk for his salary, which I am guessing might be a lot more than that of Rodgers; plus as you say, his signing bonus might be a few quid - like a player running down his contract and going on a free.

All a bit premature, though, as we don't yet know if it will happen. Be nice if it did and he could coax Sig into coming.....
