The best and the worst manager of last season?

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by Hoddle is a god, Jun 3, 2012.

  1. I can see the merit in your argument, NNS. On the other hand, though, £ity can only field XI players at a time, and there are hundreds of quality players in the world. The risk that the Arab playboy runs is that he acts like the Chav's mad-dog Russian owner and chops and changes the squad every season, never permitting it to settle. The likes of Swansea and Norwich, and particularly the Toon have proved that, despite all the hype and useless punditry, football remains a team sport, and that a settled, spirited squad of average players can hold their own in the same league as an unsettled squad of Harlem Globe Trotters.

Plus, we stand a great chance, every season, of picking up a quality cast-off from £ity, as we have with Ade! In fact, £ity are a great way for us to indirectly poach the Gooners' best players! It's just such a shame that RVP is knocking on a bit, because I'd fancy picking him up, in three seasons' time <laugh>

Spending power dictates who will win the league. The winners will come from City or Chavski and maybe United if they can generate serious money.
Spurs , Arsenal and Newcastle will be just supporting actors to the main players.
With Spurs constant uncertainty (manager, players staying, limited wages and buying power ) will be very lucky to maintain 4th place.
The league has become so uncompetitive in real terms that it's hard to get excited for the new season.

The only crumb of comfort For the future, is that least City can counterbalance Chelsea because nobody else can long term.
What else is there to look forward to , another 20 years and maybe a league cup if we are lucky. You could say not in my life time.

  4. I don't agree with that. Top spot is now between three teams - as you rightly say, £ity, United and Chavs; and these teams are going to be favourites every season for the top three spots. That's exciting enough, since there is no league in the world where more than three teams have a chance of winning it. I doubt there has been any such league in the history of football. The EPL was boring when it was United winning it every year, but it's a hell of a lot more exciting now.

And as regards 4th spot, I believe the days of Arsenal automatically booking their place in the quarter finals of the CL are now well and truly over, especially when their last top player - RVP - leaves. Spurs, Toon, Arsenal, and 'Pool will all have legitimate expectations of having a crack at that 4th spot.

I'm looking forward to next season with even more relish than I have the last two. And, let's be honest, last season was probably the best in living history, going down to the very last day.

Yes, RVP Isn't quite old and clapped out enough just yet for Harry to be interested in him. I've said all this before, so there's no point belabouring it. However, mark my words, left unchecked they will take over, and dominate European football for years to come.

I can see why you think I've suddenly gone soft on 'Pool, however please be in no doubt that I still believe they are kak, although admittedly less so now that the Yank has told Kenny-boy to "walk alone" and never to darken the steps of Klanfield ever again.

My bet for next season is that it'll be a repeat of last, with the two Manc clubs vying for top spot, and us, AFC, Chavs and the Toon vying for 3rd and 4th, with us us and Chavs being favourites (after RVP does one).

'Pool are not going to suddenly become world-beaters, not having headhunted Swansea's manager. I doubt he'll be any worse than Kenny-boy, but I cannot see him be so much better as to challenge Toon/Arsenal for 5th/6th.

  13. Wumming, at its best, is an art form. Rivals boards ought to feel privileged that I troll them. Instead they ban me. It's a sad indictment on society.

But I try to live with the pain of rejection.

    Even us wums have feelings.

at least you havent got labelled a xenophobe on the Arsenal board like a few of the Spurs posters have it seems...because of the Altoubi spat on the Modric thread...

  15. You surprise me.

I'd have put a tenner on half the Goons' board not being able to spell xenophobe, and another tenner of the other half not knowing what one was.
