I know NB has said he doesn't want any other job in football , but i hope he gets another chance - if thats what he wants . Even something in the backroom of one of his old clubs maybe ?
I just cant see him moving there, he loves it round here too much. I can only see a Yorkshire job for him to be honest, might be a contender if Parky does ****e at Bratfud this coming season.

Now that Steve Bruce can be deleted from the out of work managers list of course Nick Barmby's name can be linked with any job. I just dont see NB taking another job anytime soon. He does not need to work for money and may well take some time out. imo Now thats a better call IF and when NB wants to get back in the game. TWS hiot seat could be available again very soon but i dont expect NB to go there regardless. Indeed. TWS job is perfect for Phil Brown once Colin quits. imo
I can't see him going back on that there isn't another club I want to manage mantra he had going. He seemed to stress it a few times. Although I suspect he got the bug for managing, I suppose it comes down to whether he'd be bothered upping sticks and all the associated bother that comes with being a manager.
isnt the most overused cliche in football , "never say never" i think he should take a leaf out of Rocky - not Bullards lookalike from mask , but the Boxer bloke . Take up a quite coaching role at a Premiership club , fine tune his skills and return to our club in 4/5 years .
I'm not sure why people think sentiment and location will play a big part in NB's next career move. His chosen career is clearly football management which is why he made that decision when he stepped up to manage us. Football managers typically go where the job takes them whether that is here or abroad. He will not be in such great demand so early in his career that he can pick and choose the region he wants to work in.
He's what - 37? 38? can't see him settling for an easy life and/or a bit of TV work. Have never worked out what if any coaching qualifications he has, but if he's serious about a career in football management, surely they should be his first priority
Because right throughout his career his desire to live near Hull has dictated where he played. He turned his back on a starring role for Spurs where he was universally loved to move to newly promoted and perennial strugglers Boro. He then moved to the 2 Liverpool clubs under the consideration he could commute and then moved to TWS to be even nearer. It's one thing being a player and commuting when you have the afternoon off, I just cant see him taking on a job outside Yorkshire when he'd be working a 14 hour day. Obvs it is opinion that he wont work further away, not FACT.
That's fair enough, but as a player Nick would have been in high demand and therefore he had a lot of flexibility in where he chose to play. Management jobs are rarer and the competition is greater so unless you're Guus Hiddink you don't have the luxury of waiting for the right job in the right area.
I think NB would jump at the chance to lead a championship rival of ours, The Allam's will have pissed him off big time and he'd relish the chance of facing us. That's what I think anyway.
But his chosen career isn't football management. He decided to manage City because the Allams practically begged him to when Joyce turned them down at the last minute. He loves the club and accepted initially for a short term and the reason it took so long for it to become permanent was because he really didn't want to end his playing career. That is the annoying thing from Nick's point of view, he really didn't want the job yet nor to end his playing days, yet he did to help out the club he loves and so when it ended the way it did it was why it was so disappointing for him. He doesn't want to move away from the area and honestly right now has no real idea what his next move will be.
I imagine he would have thought long and hard before hanging up his boots and taking the manager's job because re-starting a playing career isn't easy. Don't you think his decision would have taken into account his future beyond the City manager's job? (Genuine question)
I dont think he would have thought he'd have been sacked as manager in the same season he started as a player so maybe he didn't thnk about his next step after City
Funny ridculing the whole licence thing but a typical knee jerk reaction to Steve McLaren at the time. I reall do have no time for these newspaper journalists who just jump on any old bandwagon & talk ****e all day & night. I have nothing against the Sun or anyother paper when they are doing a match report, but when they want to add "their own" thoughts on a player, manager, ref etc I tend to switch off as they wind me up. This mainly does stem from the whole Steve McLaren, Graham Taylor, even Bobby Robson was slated in '88 when guess what they were crap at the Euro's, but in '90 it was heartbreak for Sir Bobby. 2 faced ****wits!
This is my beef with the Allams. They preach loyalty and respect yet gave little when it mattered most. I would hope that if NB does win his case in the end then both the Allams and Steve Bruce can find a way to bring Nick back into the fold with the youth set up as by then we shall be back in the PL hopefully. That is my wish anyway. The Allams owe Nick big time as what PT has said above. Imo, Nick should have said to the Allams back in December that he will take the job until the end of the season and see what happens with a view to going back to the reserves/youth. For now i would suggest that Nick gets his full coaching badges whilst the dust settles and the legal matters are resolved.
