Naming the worse Premier League XI is a pretty subjective and personal venture. But here is my worse XI from the various players currently available to Premier League clubs (when fit of course!) Almunia Pantsil Caldwell (Gary) Knight Assou-Ekotto Lucas Jenas Gibson Jo Heskey N'Gog Any thoughts?
Sunderland fan in peace. Massimo Taibi Djimi Traore - Roque Junior - Jean Alain Boumsong - Winston Bogarde ------------------------Eric Djemba-Djemba------------------------------------ David Bellion -------------------------------------------------------Jordi Cruyff --------------------------Milton Nunez------------------------------------------- --------------------Jason Lee------Ali Dalia------------------------------------- I quite rate Assou-Ekotto, Gibson and Heskey (of old)
Constcrepe, I know this will sound a bit weird. But, this is the first time I've ever agreed with you. I do not know how Heskey and N'gog have made it to the professional stage of Football. One thing that I'd also wish to point out, Lucas isn't as bad as other players in the PL.
Heskey's still living off his Leicester-day glories and his first year at Liverpool, so he's effectively 10 years out of date. I'm genuinely surprised he's not at Barnet or Stockport, fighting relegation with a 4th Division club. (The only decent thing I've seen him do in that time is his debut goal for Villa and the set-up for England's goal against the USA at the World Cup last year. Not a great record though for TEN YEARS, is it). N'Gog really is ****, and so far hasn't been good at all. He's only still at Liverpool because of a few half-decent performances in the Europa League.
Knight is quite good you know. He does his job of keeping it away from people by booting it better than most. There are much much worse in the Premier League. Andy Carroll anyone?
Niall the thread is about CURRENT Premier league players. Hizmo you and I actually agreed over a lot on this board before. You're starting to me think someone is using your account lad.
Agree about Knight, he's improved massively with the Trotters. If we were talking about him as a Villa player, he'd be a nailed-on starter in this Worst XI - he was ****e. Disagree about Carroll, I never liked him that much but I'm warming to him TBH. He's a good old-fashioned, English style centre-forward.
Well, the old Hizmo and you agreed on several things. But, the new Hizmo according to you and Jip Jaap Stam, have yet to agree on anything.
Lucas has actually played better than some of the United midfielders this season so his inclusion is a bit of a mystery as is Pantsil who was extremely effective for Fulham last year?
I'd replace Knight with Squillaci and Lucas with Joe Cole / Maxi but other than that I wouldn't change much. Lucas has done pretty well for 'pool since Dalglish took over, mostly cos Dalglish appears to have told him not to cross the halfway line. But Cole just seems to have nothing to his game anymore, and Maxi is a winger who's made 14 crosses all season only two of which have found Liverpool players. In fact, you could argue Maxi's as bad as Gibson - they both play their position, don't make obvious errors and their mere presence helps create space for better players. But they both add absolutely nothing to the team.
To be fair Swarbs there is little between Squillaci and Knight. Lucas hasn't been as dire as before but he's pretty much terrible full stop. How he makes the Brazil squad is beyond me.
Don't hate the lad. Just remember him at Fulham and Villa being useless. Nothing personal. Don't know him and will never.
Then you don't need to remember being good at Bolton, he is good now and we are suffering for not having him. Evans is worse than him...
Maybe he has improved but he was pretty useless not that long ago. Evans was once very good and promising. He has lost his confidence but given time will get better. Knight I'm afraid cannot improve much. 2 England caps as well! Incredible.
