as it stands now... for Europe I'd say yes.
He's versatile which is a big advantage indeed.

But apparently 7.5 million has been rejected, if we up that bid isn't that going into silly money territory? I suppose at least it says we rate him very highly.

If we were to bring a left back in though I'd want an established solid left back not someone who can "fill in there" like Ryan Taylor.

Few randomers on Twitter saying we've got 30 million to spend. Can't see that being anywhere near true. I'd have though more between 10-15.

He'll probs serve as a replacement to Tiote like Guthrie did. That doesn't mean he replaces Tiote if Tiote leaves, it could mean he replaces Tiote if he's injured.

Yes i read it and it made interesting reading. From what i can see though he has actually played most of his first team games, very successfully, at LB but a change of manager brought about his also successful move to midfield.
Seems to me that he could play very well, and not just as a "fill in" player, in both positions. A left footed LB would be good for us and in midfield whilst able to "fill in" for Tiote there is no reason why he could not play left sided in a midfield 3 or even 4 and could also cover Cabaye although not in such an offensive fashion.
As for his size i'm sure everyone on here could name many good/great players who have easily coped at top level in this country and abroad despite being only around 5ft 6in tall or less so i think that is irrellevant. If hes good enough hes big enough and if Graham Carr likes him its good enough for me.
As for the fee we all know rumours of fees to be random rubbish anyway especially at this stage but most seem to be around the £7 million mark but with the Toon trying to reduce that. Seems reasonable to me though for his age, record and achievements.

We need another defensive midfielder. It's not like a normal season next season, no player can play every game. We need to give players time to rest.

Anita will be good for us. He'll not just be cover for Tiote, with the amount of games we have, just because a player aint in the strongest 11, doesn't make him cover because you can't plan for anyone to be able to play every single game in your season.

We need another DM, another winger, another CB, another fullback, and perhaps another goalkeeper.

Forsters not staying, he wants to be first choice so he can **** off the Celtic or wherever. I wouldn't take a risk on Elliot or Harper, they've both been out of action for a while now, Elliot still has developing to do.

I reckon it would be wise to sign Rob Green as a 2nd choice or maybe Gordon.

I wouldn't want Green or Gordan, I bet both sit on big wages and for someone who is unlikely to play, its money down the drain

£7+ million i feel is too high for just a cover player imo

Unless hes being bought in to either replace Cheick or develop in 1 or 2 years to become in starting 11

Thanks for taking the time at least. As for your comment on his position switch. When Frank de Boer was in charge he played LB but Boilesen came to fill in that position. Anita was benched for some time because of that. With Boilesen injured for most of the 2011-2012 season he became a LB again because there was no other alternative then Daley Blind, and he is really bad as LB. So Anita filled in the LB spot untill Daley Blind was finally ready join the first team. After that he was benched again for some time untill January this year. Frank de Boer put him on CM and he pushed Theo Jansen one line forward as AM. From then on Ajax started to win. In total 14 games in a row to win the championship. Anita is far from ideal as LB as both his height and jumping are huge disadvantages defensive-wise. He is a good DM and CM because his marking, passing, technique and tackling is good/great. But like i said, as a LB he will fail in the EPL. Put him against Nani, Sturridge, Gervinho and he's toast.

I think he'd be more than cover at CM, he's probably far more competant there than Jonas, who is far more of a wide player, so him and Tiote would be a base for Cabaye, and Jonas could cover the LW position for Ba/whoever else we bring in.

The Sun reports we have made a £4m bid and that we've been told to double it.
In real world speak.... Fat Mike's tried to get a bargain by trying to drive the price down and we'll end up settling for around £6-6.5m in the end.
Don't forget we pay cash up front unlike a lot of other clubs....
    :)

Anita still has two years left on his contract. Either a buy-out clausule would have to be activated or you'll have to show Ajax the money.
Looking at his record it was stupid to offer 4 million. He has won the league twice with Ajax. Has played two seasons in the Champions league against Real Madrid, Olympique Lyon, AC Milan. In the EL against Manchester United, Spartak Moscow and RSC Anderlecht. He's got loads of experience in tournaments and he is flexible.
I would be rolling on the floor laughing aswell hearing about the 4 million bid.
