Hodgson did an interview with Gabby Logan where he was asked about Ferdinand. He explained: He already has his first choice centre back pairing, and who ever came in to replace Cahill would only be back up. So Roy thought he should then look to the future and pick a younger player so that they can gain experience. So in a way, this is a sample of the radical squad over hall loads of people are creating. To me this shows Roy is looking to a long term plan.
He still has Jags to come in so I can understand his thinking, though I think Rio is still good enough to get in the first 11. Clearly Roy does not though! If it was me I would have Rio in the team
Oh please...he's using whatever excuse he can possibly think of just to avoid saying, "I didn't pick Rio because he doesn't get on with Terry". What does he do if Terry gets injured against France or if we even lose two centrebacks? We're screwed. Never mind the fact Rio is better than at least 2 of them... Hodgson can't win unfortunately. If he drops Terry, he's being predjudice to him before his courtcase. If he takes both, he risks upsetting the team harmony. He dropped Rio, which could make it look like he's taking a side. If he took neither, he'd be criticised for not taking our 2 best CBs. He should have been honest at the start instead of trying to come up with pathetic excuses. "I took Terry because he and Rio won't play well together and I rate Terry as more useful to the team than Rio". Job done, problem solved. Instead, he'll keep digging to avoid it...like the pathetic, whimpering fool he is.
This gizmo that Barbarella is in reminds me of Rio's quivering top lip during his blouse attacks over his non-selection for England. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1235u_barbarella-orgasmatron_fun
"I took Terry because he and Rio won't play well together and I rate Terry as more useful to the team than Rio". Job done, problem solved. Except that Rio is black (or mixed race, anyway) and therefore there must be some great racial discrimination purpose at the core of it.
I feel a bit sorry for Woy here. Nothing will convince me that this was anything other than a political decision. The daft tarts at the FA will have made it, and Hodgson has to explain it away. All his attempts to pass it off as a footballing decision are sounding increasingly desperate, but there's nothing else he can do. Imagine the stink if the FA allowed even the slightest suggestion that they might have taken the white man's side in a race row.
We all know what would have solved the situation but the FA, in alliance with Chelsea, (may as well keeps all the ****s together ) decided it was best to postpone the court case until after the Euros so Terry's impending ban doesn't effect 2011-12 season (inc. the Euros). You can't deny top marks to the twats for intentionally completely ****ing it all up though, bravo
It's all the fault of a West London magistrate,Chelsea FC sought permission to adjourn his case until after the club's season was completed and the Euro's were over. And the bellend granted them their request(like a good Chelsea fan).
would rather have him say he wants to use jones in midfield cos parker and gerrard are bound to blow up and need a rest. (hopefully 3rd game!) so he wants right back cover and kelly is that and rio is not... walker is jured etc etc. that is more of an explanation than giving experience cos that would just mean the boy is on a jolly.
^^This! The whole English national game is political and has been for years; its the only explanation for why no manager has come in and had an overhaul bringing the future through, its also the only reason the likes of Beckham played for so long because it sure as **** was not on merit!
I think Gordon Strachan spoke for me and made the most sensible comment on the issue: "Team harmony is a footballing matter."
