Beachy head, shortly after the European Grand Prix. Honestly though Schumachers form is what im dreaming of at this point.
Remember that the last race winner and current championship leader to do bad in the race. Hamilton to crash in Valencia.
I'm not... this season is so upside down that I'm not expecting anything. Just really happy to see Hammy on the top step. I thought it might not happen this year for a while.
I am happy to see Hamilton there, but I have a horrible feeling it is Alonso's year, it won't be Vettel's real I don't think.
Ferrari and Red Bull shouldve really thought about the championship rather than going all or nothing for the win, they were deservedley punished today. Great race from Lewis, very smart overtakes.
Brilliant race. Hamilton and Grosjean were excellent (unless you subscribe to the Jaques Villeneuve view that the Lotus is utterly dominant, in which case Grosjean was disgracefully below par ), Perez was completely insane, 15th to 3rd and pulled off a great pass on Rosberg. Ferrari and Red Bull made a real mess of things, trying to match Hamilton's two-stop pace on a one-stop strategy. I can't believe Ferrari didn't bite the bullet and bring Alonso in, he only finished 4/10ths ahead of Rosberg so it could've been worse. I wonder if the FIA will take a closer look at Mercedes' rear wing now. Given what they've banned so far it was strange of them to clear it in the first place, but it represents a safety risk if it's going to stick open. Gutted about Button's form, he's driving appallingly. Imagine if Schumacher or Massa had driven like he has in the last few weeks... Croft's commentary was painfully bad again. The title race is really beginning to form now, just three points separating Hamilton, Alonso and Vettel. So exciting. There are a few further back who could drag themselves into contention with a string of strong results, I expect the top three to start to break away though.
I turned the race off after 20 laps, when Hamilton passed Alonso. I guess i was right to do so, i'm always unhappy when Hamilton wins.
It really is, even to me, one of Senna's staunchest defenders. Early on in the season he had race pace; now he's just slow.
How do you lose so much race pace in a mere 5 races. It's not as if he's turned 43 and is only in the car for a laugh, he's still the same driver who's only in F1 because of his surname.
Same could be said of Button, in both cases the younger team-mate with a tendency for over-exuberance seems to suit the chassis better.
Ask Jenson Button. Senna's race pace has been fine bar Spain and today obviously, It was exasperated today by the car not suiting the conditions at all (its not like Maldonado flew).
Out of curiosity... Why? Hammy could have lost that given recent form and luck. Seems a strange thing to do.
I wanted to watch the football anyway, hamilton taking the lead gave me the necessary motivation to turn it over.
Finally got to watch the extended highlights via some interesting ip routing.... Well what can I say, GO HAMILTON! How did you manage that, you seemed done for with McLarens race pace but you did it, really chuffed for him. Happy to see Grosjean up there again, he's been clumsy this season but I also feel he's been unlucky to. Not as unlucky as Schumacher, he most definitely has said the Lords name in vain over winter lol. Button... whats going on there. Hamilton was on it this weekend but was Button really that much 'off' it? Congrats to Hamilton again, and Alonso missing out tyre wise by a matter of laps, bet he's a little pieved
Looks like Button's been put in his place, i.e. not as good as Lewis, and has spat out the dummy. Lewis's body language with Whitmarsh on the podium said it all, I thought he wasn't going to put his arm around him and I think Whitmarsh was favouring Button at the beginning of the season. Then at the Mclaren team shot, Ron Dennis appears with Lewis and him carrying on. So seems like Hamilton was advised correctly i.e. to, 'make sure he criticises the dreadful pitstops/not keeping him informed on his head set about other drivers, etc., etc. live on air and to the media' - so that the head boys at Mclaren's had to take note. It would seem Ron Dennis is in control again behind the scenes - and about time, too. The pit stops were great.
