The Allams clearly wanted all discussions to remain secret and that's why none of the candidates revealed anything. On a need to know basis the press and the fans come last and that's the way it should be. I personally don't mind if the Allams or Bruce's agent blatantly lied to put everyone off the scent because the negotiations were more important than public interest.

Most agents are probably dishonest as they are trying to get the best deal for themselves and their client. Steve Bruce would have talked to Norwich, West Brom or Swansea had they approached him and I assume his agent was trying to get him one of these jobs. Thats football and you cant blame Steve Bruce for wanting to manage at the highest level. If steve Bruce gets poached, it means he would be doing a good job for us, would it not? If he does get poached then we would receive compensation, again thats football.

I think the fact that no-one connected with the job revealed anything about being approached or negotiations strongly points to the Allams wanting to keep everything confidential. All agents are dishonest and unscrupulous. It would be naive to think otherwise, but the art of negotiating isn't about broadcasting what is happening to the press and the supporters. These talks were probably more successful because they were kept behind closed doors and frankly it was none of our business who was involved because that is the choice of the owners.
