That's in context though and even then it depends what they say. There's a clear difference between that and someone going onto a soical networking site and threatening to bomb someone.

When is it ever normal to threaten to bomb someone? What the **** has gone wrong with the world when that's acceptable?

But how is it a threat did he start looking at how to make a bomb. No. The facts are there's no evidence to prove what intent he had so you can't prosecute. It could very well be a dark joke. The government is not going to tell me what i can and can't find offensive. I'll make my own mind up, thank you very much.

How is it a threat? He threatened to bomb another person. That's the threat. And what are the police supposed to do? Wait until he's made the bomb and sent it before arresting him?

What you find offensive is neither here nor there.

"The facts are there's no evidence to prove what intent he had so you can't prosecute"

    That would suggest otherwise <ok>

Well if he admits his own guilt fair enough but hes an idiot, as a fancy lawyer would have got him off. He's probably being charged with inciting violence rather than making a threat.

I was just making a point about our freedom and how our government is taking them away, and the annoying holier than holy brigade who find everything offensive.

If he said bomb Iran would he still have been charged?

Why are people concerned with this clown? What he said is not "Freedom of speech", not even close.

If someone posted a message on FB saying he wanted you or a friend to be bombed would you still think that's ok? Or is only ok when it's a threat to celebrities or other people we don't know?

Idiots like him deserve everything they get because you can bet that if he's not on social networking sites venting his spleen, he's repeating his ****e at grounds and in pubs and clubs. **** him.

Not concerned with that guy in the slightest he would appear to be an arsehole. Its just a slippery slope if the government is going to start policing online and what can and can't be said. The problem with twitter and facebook etc is you can't judge the tone of anything and ultimately it will be taken out of context.

Agree that the guy in question is obviously an idiot ... if what's been reported about him is true (and we all know we can't believe half of what's in the newspapers ... but which half?). I think anyone with a couple of working brain cells knows where to draw the line or at least has an idea when one may be treading on dangerous ground - especially these days -so if in doubt, leave it out, would be my contention. I do, however, tend to go along with the idea that no subject is sacred where humour is concerned (it's all that's between us and insanity after all!) but again, obviously, depending on one's mood or if the subject is very personal or close to one's heart at a particular time then one won't find it amusing but that just means rising above it or ignoring it.

Maybe we should add disclaimers each time we make a joke ... or add smilies to show we don't mean any harm and that can be our defence when PC Plod comes calling? :emoticon-0105-wink:
