Has Gainsborough gone upmarket? When I lived in Lincoln (1979 - 2000) large parts of Gainsborough were an absolute ****-hole!

....changed a lot in the 20 years i have lived here, but houses still reasonably cheap. 100K for good 3 bed semi. though a couple of council estates are less salubrious.

I know where you mean, I used to pick a lad up from there, when his Mother was around, his Dad was inside and then they'd change over! He had a 19 year old sister with 4 kids, each one with a different father! No wonder he was in a special school in Horncastle!

Born at West Norwich Hospital, lived in Norwich until I was 20, then moved to London, Guildford, Basingstoke, Andover and now I'm settled in Wiltshire.

Hatched in the warm sunshine in Norwich. Apprenticeship at Jarrolds Printers. Off as far as I could get away and still be in a civilsed English speaking country and ended up in New Zealand in 1974.
Came back in 1980 amid Thatchers shut down but luckily they didn't have any printers in Cornwall so came down here and have lived here ever since. Would consider moving back even now but with Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren down here it would be too much off a wrench to leave them.

As a teenager, yes they had them in our day as well, we used to drink in The Crows nest and Arthurs Bar in Lowestoft. A good night out in Cromer at the Pavillions and I can't remember the name of the place in Ipswich but it was a Lido type place.
Norwich pubs used were The Orford, Champion, Trowel and Hammer. Too many daddys boys in the Woolpack.

That really does narrow it down! There are not many houses between those two locations. Bawdeswell or Swanton Morley?

Just down the road Goldeneadie - i'm in Um Al Hassam at the mo, pop down to some of the bars in Juffair for a jolly from time to time...get's a bit rowdy though! There are a couple of other Canary fans here, which is bizarre - I met one (Hong Kong Footie) in Hong Kong when I lived there and he was mad as a pub full of Ipswich fans

To the Caister lot, i lived in Halt Rd, just off Second Avenue.. left school, worked in the camp in the arcades.. (When it was Ladbrokes, then Haven). Used to drink in The Centurion and Never Turn Back.

Then worked as a Chef in Yarmouth before moving jobs and onto Omni-Pac, eventually becoming Tenneco. Then worked at C-Mac before moving South..

History lesson over, although i didn't mention the blowing up of the old power station chimney. Anyone else work at the above establishments?
