I wonder what the pre-determined targets are though, could be just to bring on the current squad but like everybody else hope Bruce has unlimited cash to spend
Isn't this a little dangerous considering our very recent financial implosion!? (Edit) Having now read the article it's pretty clear we won't be going silly about it. Good news as long as the Allams can sustain what we bring in regardless of which league we're in!
Interesting that talks had been taking place for more than 2 weeks, yet only last week Bruces agent denied any contact. A clear ploy by the Allams to keep information out of the public domain.
I think if we'd of got him when Brownie was in charge it probably would of led to us folding, hope it is exciting as although we finished quite high last season it was a bit flat
it didn't say "no limit", it did say "no budget". Which could be read as saying that there is no money. I don't think they meant that. It's just badly worded.
I wonder how many clubs actually have a set budget for the manager to work with? I reckon in most cases it will be more flexible than that, and it sounds like that's what is planned here. I've noticed they are very keen to talk about Steve Bruce not being a cheap option, in the press conference Assem made a comment about it and Ehab in this article makes a point that there were cheaper options who they felt would still do a job. It's clear they want us all to see their intent now, and if splashing the cash is the way to do it that's fine with me.
It's not saying there is a limitless budget, it's saying there is no fixed amount Bruce has to work with, this gives the Allams the freedom on a case by case basis to reject signings they feel are too much. However, it would be wrong to focus solely on the negative aspects, this article sends out a really good message for next year. Bring it the FU*K ON!!!!!
Yes true plus it can also mean no limit on how much Steve Bruce can spend, if we were in a strong position and just needed that something more im sure the Allams would spend it.
just think its a sensible statement really, if a target suddenly becomes available and we have the resources and its within our means then i think we'l recruit, bit daft saying right youve got 2.5m to spend and feeling the need to spend it, why not just buy as and when the right type of player becomes available
Thought it was just me picked up on that, and also the 'pre-determined' targets bit, i.e bringing on the players we have. Can't blame people for getting carried away though and it would be great if Brucey was given a ton of cash to spend.
I agree with this view - not no limit, but no budget - no figure given, which sounds like SB will have to justify each player he wants, on a case-by-case basis. It might work out.....
Which talks were these? Maybe Bruce's agent has been in talks with other clubs in recent weeks? I note Assem Allam was very vague about 'talks going on' Maybe Bruce's agent was telling the truth at the time when he said there'd been no contact? Alternatively he's a complete liar...... Somebody is telling porkies.
If we need a comparison to our set up then look no further than Stoke City. Peter Coates has bankrolled them to become a mid table premier league team and without him would not be a big enough club to achieve where they are now. It's not something we have any experience of, ie owners with serious money that wish to use it to benefit the local area and enjoy the success and feeling this brings. We are not a serious business opportunity any more than Wigan, Stoke etc are to Whelan and Coates, so this is the only reason the Allams bought us. I reckon we are in for good times, with undoubtedly a few more hiccups along the way.
