I would not say no to Kjaer but only if we can get him for around 5-6mil, its not an area we deperately need strengthening in as others have said but at the price I mentioned the opportunity to add to the squad and bring in a player that can slot in with Agger if needed we would be mad not too, he also may want to join Agger so perhaps could sway it our way?

  2. Its not someone to slot in with Agger that we need, its someone to compete/replace with Agger because of his injury troubles. Skrtel has proved to be a good partner (although this could be improved) and is rarely injured. We have Carragher, Coates and Kelly who can all come in too but not one of them is a ball playing CB like Agger. The only player we have that can do that but is yet to prove his self in the Premier League is Wilson.

Whilst Aggers injury woes do stop me from mentioning him as one of our world class players(although I do rate him that high) I think replacing him would be foolish, still a quality player and yes him and Skrtel were awesome last season but having the likes of Kjaer(only at the price mentioned) knowing he already has that understanding with Agger would make sense. However for me even with Kjaer my first choice pairing would definately be Skrtel/Agger

  4. I meant replacing him when he is injured...<ok>

I didn't want to say we need someone as back up as I do not believe in signing players merely for the squad. Players should be bought with the intention of improving the first team. If they get in the starting eleven then the player that was there becomes the 'back up', hence the squad becomes stronger anyway <ok>

Sorry should have known you didn't mean to replace him as a starter, know you have more sense and intelligence than that ;) I do think we are ok in defence at the moment but I would still get Kjaer for 5-6mil if it was a possibility. You only need look at the injuries to Newcastle's, Arsenal and United defence last season to see what can happen, but yeah the priorities certainly lie elsewhere!

I think Kjaer flatters to deceive. He is ok when alongside someone of the class of Agger but I have seen him make some awful mistakes. I seem to remember he had a really bad world cup in 2010 and the Danish manager publicly criticised him for making to many mistakes. He lacks concentration at times

As to whether Agger stays or goes he is having a new house built in Spain at the moment costing around £2m. It could be a holiday home as I think he already has one at Marbella or it may be a move is on the cards.

But would Real Madrid want someone with his injury record even if the Spanish league is not as physical as the Prem.

  7. I actually think our defence is weak beyond the regular back four, the fact we can all name the strongest four suggests we could do with competition for places! The problem is, we need better players in other areas more as they are not even strong enough at first team level, never mind the squad.

  8. The game is full of players like this. Calvalho made Terry look good. Vidic looks better alongside Rio. Skrtel better alongside Agger, Carragher was better alongside Hyypia and then Agger.

It is a team game and when you break that team down you look at partnerships before individuals <ok>

While this may be true, in this particular case you can't look at the partnership since Agger is out so often! That's why you need 2 players that are the same level of ability. That's why Kjaer may be good, but when Agger is gone he's a bit... dodgy sometimes (a la Skrtel)

  10. Why he same level of ability? If were to get a CB then we wan the best possible player available to us, not someone on an equal level to Skrtel! Any signing we make should be improving the first team, if we do this then the squad will take care of its self <ok>

Kjaer is the perfect type of player we should be looking at to be honest. Someone who has talent but fallen out of favour at his current club and off the radar a little bit in terms of getting linked with other teams for big fees.
