I don't think we have put all our eggs in one basket though. Young players, foreign ones, established ones or youth team. MoN hasn't ruled in or out any avenue for developing the team. Tying Carr up for 6 years is a big statement of where your sole source of players will be coming from. If it works you will do very well. If it doesn't you may struggle. I don't think that's too far from a reasonable assumption even for a limp cock end like Tash to understand. If it doesn't, are you all convinced Ashley will give Pardew £15m or £20m to buy 2 or 3 players in? Really?
The fact he shelled out 9 mil for cisse tells me that if a target becomes available at the right price, money will be spent.
Is it really sour grapes to merely advise a bell end licking rent boy such as yourself that his opinion isn't at all valued? There are plenty of other b&w's here who's opinion I happily welcome. You on the other-hand sadly lack the wit or intelligence for me to become interested in.
Tiote and Cabaye are the 2 irreplaceable players in our team imo. I don't mind losing anyone except for them 2 (and Ben Arfa, but thats just cos I love him).
You can get a goalscorer, you can get a keeper, you can get an intelligent centre half. I just don't think we will find another perfect partnership of defensive martialling and attacking guile that works so well together.
Well no, I didn't mean to be rude. If he gets you more then fine, good luck to him. If he doesn't then I shall not worry one jot Jesus.
I'd have to disagree with that... Top goalkeepers are hard to come by...Look at lads like Green, Robinson and Carson - all great at times but make far too many mistakes in big games - How many times have you seen Krul make a mistake? Intelligent CB...We've had some absolute shockers in our time and look around the Premier League, how many of them can read the game like Coloccini? Very, very few. Some are bigger, some are faster, but few know where to be and when as well as he does. Goalscorer. Cisse and Ba make signing great goal scorers look easy, but £17m on Owen, £9.5 on Luque and even £9m Brian Ruiz and £10 Gervinho would prove otherwise. Cabaye and Tiote are great players, but look at when either have been injured and we've had Perch or Guthrie playing, we've not missed them anywhere near as much as I expected us to! The one player I really don't want to lose is Krul...I've watched Forster, I've watched Elliot - we'd be ****ed without Krul!
lol I was only messing! I have no idea who the Sunderland head scout is and I won't be bothering myself to find out...just the same as you!
It can't be denied that luck is involved, there is luck in everything. Even the best in the world can still fail because something goes wrong, however, when someone is very good at their job it's a bit unfair to bring luck into the equation. Carr's job is to know players, and crucially, to know players that will fit into our team and so far he has excelled at this. You make your own luck by working hard and being very good at your job.
I agree Krul is one of the crucial players to us, but even an Al-Havsi or a Vorm could do a solid job for us. In not too distant future Colla will be needing replaced due to age anyway, and those awful striker signings were before the days of MA and Carr. I just think the only totally irreplaceable thing in our team is our centre mid partnersip. After 12 games this season, when we were unbeaten, Tiote had covred more ground than anyone in the prem, and cabaye was second. Tells you a lot.
The good thing is we aren't over reliant on one thing, certainly not Carr. All aspects of the club are moving in the right direction. The coaching is now of a very high level, we improve players massively. Ben Arfa, Krul, Simpson, Cabaye have all benefitted. Carr is just the figurehead of a scouting team he directs too. We have several pairs of eyes under his tutelage. The contract is more about ensuring we tap into his outstanding knowledge of scouting to continue to build a scouting department which is revered and built to last. Ashley has shown he'll provide finances too, he just sells high buys low. We basically have little to worry about, its hard to knock anything about the club. We are well run and have a sensible outlook on finances/transfers/sales. We are finally being run in a way that relies on the core aspects of any football club instead of a fat wallet. Scouting, youth systems and coaching are now the heart of the club. We're geared for success and progress, its a nice feeling.
