I used to particularly like Paul Merton and Sean Hughes around the time of their TV shows in the early 90s.

Indeed he was. However, Edmondson is a fan of a small Club like Cambridge or someone. I changed it to QPR in his Wiki page a few months ago. I'm popping back now to see has it held.
You beat me to it Personal favorites: Frank Skinner (saw him a few years ago above a pub in London for a tenner - best value ticket I've ever bought, there was a young lad (looked about 12) who was class too, Lee Evans and Harry Hill. Those that I've not seen live: Billy Connely, and Bill Hicks RIP.
I can't believe no one has mentioned Ricky Gervais or Michael McIntyre. Mainstream I agree, but very funny. I also find Alan Carr and Jimmy Carr funny, as well as Micky Flanagan as mentioned by Loneranger earlier. In fact I find most comedians funny past or present, except for Russell Brand and that other blonde Russell lefty studenty ****er bloke. They both need a clump.
Russell Howard? He's great and I love Good News. Dara O'Brien is extremely funny too while we're on the subject .
Just googled Les Dawson sings 'Feelings'. No one told me not to drink hot coffee while watching that!! Now I have to mop it all up....
