I think the only problem with Carr is his age. At 67 he may not have the energy to travel so regularly in the next 6 years? Is it fair of Ashley to expect him to keep doing so?
Come on now warm pouch, dont hold back, say it............. club well run Big well done to one M Ashley
Don't think anyone could deny its been a job well done by all since he went more hands on. The gaffs have stopped bar the renaming. We might lose one or two big names this summer but I don't think anyone really minds because we have a plan for once. Nice to see the club being well run the for first time in ages.
I reckon we could lose one of our blue chip players a year (Krul, Collo, Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Tiote, Cisse) as long as Carr still produces his excellent signings. In terms of Mike Ashley, he seems to have the club running on an even keel and a plan for the future. However, I still have the impression that his next train crash is just around the corner. I still don't trust the bloke at all.
Mike Ashley has thus far not done anything without something in it for Mike Ashley. Unless he has had his momentous epiphany moment and changed his entire life decisions now to devote himself to all things black & white (do any of you REALLY think this is the case?) then he is just biding his time until he commits his next PR disaster. Graham Carr has single handedly saved you from disaster but the fact that your entire future planning is in the hands of a 67 year old scout to keep producing quality players for very little investment, is a hugely risky one and one which could just as easily see you plummet down as well as climb up the EPL slippery pole. I offer no apologies for wishing it is the former and expect nothing more than for all you to expect the latter. I guess only time and a new season will see who is right and wrong.
Spot on about Ashley. However, I don't think Carr will lose his touch in the space of a few years. As for you hoping it's the former, I wouldn't expect anything different from you. You're red and white. It's your job.
I'd like to know where we are with our scouting system. The Academy is working well and producing some promising youngsters, but if we can buy quality on the cheap (or relatively cheap) like the mags then that can only speed up our strengthening under MON.
Going on what Carr was saying on the radio, I wouldn't be surprised if he has a list of names that will take up the next 5 years or so to scout anyway. He did say that we aren't on a level to take the 16/17 year olds to newcastle so his scouting network will be watching the young lads now to see how they develop in the next 5 year.
No doubt but if we benefit from him looking to make his coin, no harm done. He'll always be prone to PR disasters but they're not weekly anymore. No worries on Carr losing his touch or his enthusiasm, and like I say he has an opportunity to leave a legacy and scouting department built to last. We're in great shape.
And this is my point. 100% of your strategy for the next 5 or 6 years is tied up in Graham Carr. If he can keep producing stars then all will be well but it must be a tad worrying that this is the sole policy. If the next 2 or 3 are Xiscos rather than Cabayes AFTER you have cashed in on the latter, where will you turn to? However, as I said, I think Graham Carr came across as a top bloke. Completely different to the smarm and ****e of Pardew.
Personally think it's unfair to say that Carr unearthing gems is our sole policy. None of us know what goes on inside the club, we may have a number of backup policies, but they don't need to come into effect while the cheapest, most viable option is working as well as it is AT THE MOMENT.
If there is a plan B I've yet to see it in action but for your sakes, you'd better hope there is one.
Most clubs have more than one scout! A chief scout and underling scouts. Perhaps Carrs role has been overstated? I wouldn't know enough about it?
I'm sorry but i'm not buying this that we rely on Carr. Every club employs scouts. Every club outside the mega rich use a scouting system to un earth potential players. The mega rich probably do it as well but it's not as vital to them as it is to clubs like ours. I'm sure sess was scouted for Sunderland before he was bought. Scouting is carr's job, along with the team who work under him. There may come A time where if we need a player we can just go out and pay for proven quality, but as it is, we are a club in a transition period and like i said, only the top top clubs can go out and sign the proven quality at top dollar.
I'm sick of this constantly ****e from you in particular, that we are lucky in finding all these hidden gems. It's not just luck. It's our scouts finding players with potential, and our manager and coaches getting the best out of them. It's not luck. It's not as if we find these players, and they randomly go HULK mode and start playing well randomly.
I see what you're saying, but what are your plans? Using a chief scout to find players? Hoping your manager finds players? Its surely the same as us, only our Chief Scout has been in the news more...
I couldnt give a flying **** what you think, say or do, so you will have to forgive my complete lack of interest in your thoughts either way, or on any other subject for that matter.
