Laudrup starting to look like a certainty. Not sure what's holding up the official announcement though.
What makes you say it looks like a certainty? And the thing that is holding up the official announcement is the fact Huw probably hasn't even met Laudrup yet, now.. I aint no businessman, but pretty sure Huw would like to talk to the fellah before offering him a job?
It's the odds that's starting to make it look like a certainty. As low as 2-7 with some bookies. When next manager odds are that low then that person nearly always ends up as the manager. I'm sure Huw has already spoken to Laudrup. If not, then he will certainly have spoken to his agents and discussed the appointment with the board etc. So their meeting is more than likely just a formality. But it looks like a certainty to me. Others won't be so certain, because they don't believe anything until they read an official announcement. So this is just my personal opinion.
Just saw him on the telly box.Seems a pretty intelligent chap, think he would make a good manager for you. Both our teams might look back on losing our managers and wonder what all the fuss was about.
The lack of an "official announcement" may just indicate that there is nothing to announce. As for "Laudrup starting to look like a certainty",well, quite recently someone posted that Sigurdsson had actually signed for Swansea. How wide of the mark was that? I simply can't be bothered with all this speculation. It will all happen in the fullness of time, and there may be more twists yet to come.
But Brendan got the Liverpool job well before an official announcement was made. I think most fans like to speculate and they are also eager to know who the new manager is, so don't want to wait for the official announcement. By the time that is made the whole world will already know who the new manager is. Yes, could be more twists and turns but not looking likely. I think siggy was a very special case i'm sure it would have signed if Brendan hadn't left. These things happen. So Laudrup could get run over by a bus tomorrow, so won't then become our manager. But the betting is usually right when odds are this short. But still an outside chance of someone else getting it. Things can always go wrong at the last minute.
Yes I saw him on the box he was talking about Denmark in the euros 1992.He played in that tournament as a young player. He certainly seeemed a nice guy and spoke perfect English .If he gets the job he might bring some of his countrymen on board -they play like the Swans.
Now 1-4. GJ out to 5-1, Holloway 10-1, Bergkamp 33-1. Doesn't get much more certain than that. Betting will probably be suspended very soon. Michael Laudrup - Welcome to SCFC.
Saw that too Casual. Looking around the net for more evidence, but now't though. The prospect is so exciting, but ready as always for a let down too!! This is Swansea City afterall, we are used to it... Hope your right though...
DOH .... that was his brother, Brian ...... Michael Laudrup had walked out of the Danish side a few years earlier as he refused to play for such a defensive minded manager
Desailly has just come out and said he was approached but thought it's too early. Good on him, I say!
So, Laudrup it is. Funny how you find out from the bookies first, the press 2nd and the club last. Good luck to all those who still want to wait for the official announcement.
Daily Mail now reporting that Laudrup will be manager withing next 48 hours... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...named-new-Swansea-boss.html?ito=feeds-newsxml
And now story is on BBC, and they are almost always correct. Looking good. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18325287
Sorry chaps for yet another Laudrup Article but I just read on the evening post website that Laudrup has been appointed and they've done a profile of his career. There is nothing in there from Swansea City saying that he has been appointed but the EP seems quite confident. I know they're not the most reliable of newspapers but they are probably in the best position to get info from the club. False alarm or is he now our new manager? Excited or not? If it's true I'd like to welcome Laudrup to the greatest Welsh football team and the team that plays some of the most attractive football in the english leagues! I wonder if Ash will delete this thread. And I wonder if valley and dilligaf and campioniboy will complain?
