This is a decent read, although I do expect a bit of wumming from the berks north of Bolden station. http://www.sport.co.uk/features/Football/1624/Can_Sunderland_challenge_for_Europe_next_season.aspx
Can Sunderland challenge for Europe next season is the question but you are right Bill, those from the dark side will see Sunderland and Europe in the title and miss the can. The answer must be yes if we are to move on, yes we can but will we, well thats the question I feel Short may be asking.
Has to be an aspiration for the club (Short) for next season. As many have stated previously, he did not become a billionaire by chance…………… he must be looking for some form of return on his investment ……i.e. time for a real move up the ladder……… i.e. playing in Europe.
To challenge for Europe next season I think may still be a season too early, however I wouldnt be against it happening but I think we need better luck with injuries and having a settled first team can work wonders on the pitch as Birmingham showed last season when they had the same starting 11 for pretty much every game and stayed around 7th/8th position all season. We need a bit of luck along the way but yes it can be done. A top ten finish, at least 4 points off the Mags and a decent cup run should be next season's targets.
Interesting read, cheers. Yes i think we can challenge for the European slots but we need to do some serious squad strengthening in the summer, we don't have the strength in depth as has been clearly obvious over the past 2 months. If we can secure the loanee's and add a solid, proven striker to partner Gyan, a creative midfielder and a centre back then we have the makings of a very good team.
If as I had hopes for, we had consolidated a comfortable top ten finish this season. (IMHO we should have already!) I would have said definitely for next season, once again SAFC loves to slap me back down to earth though. Nothing to stop it happening next season, with a bit more determination from the lads.
Welcome. One tip could you not write such long posts? Off you go back to comment on the wrestling (that well known sport!!).
I'm beginning to wonder if it's Stewart's day to attend the special school today? i was certain he would have jumped all over this one by now.
Some guy walking around near the offices wearing this: please log in to view this image Might be him?
Please give him a map and some bus fare and show him where your matches are played, poor lad has never seen the place.
