Well Button's lost some potentially important testing time. Also Vettel's potentially in the naughty book for what I assume is dodgy driving at the chicane. Under investigation after the session.
Gary Anderson: "Ferrari have now changed Alonso's car to the specification Massa's was in, with the new exhaust, and Massa's back to the spec Alonso's was, with the older-spec one that was introduced in Barcelona two races ago. It's good to do these comparisons because sometimes it's not easy to get a definitive answer from the driver, when the gains are going to be in the region of 0.1-0.2secs." Exhaust is surely worth more than that? From the onboard, the Ferrari looked quite stable so hopefully the update worked.
Not sure about the Senna incident, fine at best. Senna was going slow so he took the quicker route round, but none the less rules are rules! Actually Lewis has done it now, so maybe both will weirdly be at the back of the grid come Sunday?
Vettel's was certainly more blatant but it is only fp1. Probably a slap in the wrists but the way the stewards have been at times this year I would rule out a dsq So Hamilton takes the fp1 pole, shame its not Saturday Oh and Sky have got Villeneuve all weekend, lucky them.....
Talk going about that Seb touched Senna during that stunt. Also it looked like Senna made a swipe at Seb to slow his time down.
Nah.... Minimal contact with Senna, be surprised if anything more than a reprimand. "You no longer go for a gap" all and all from the Senna family. Also talk that Seb is lifting at the end around the wall of champions.
So neither Red Bull on super-soft could go faster than Hamilton on soft. Vettel and Webber comparatively slow in sector 3.
Depended on the weather as it was raining at random times. Also RBR were testing new things so I reckon they are not pushing as hard as believed.
Well it was a bit clumsy, but it wasn't a big incident and it's only practice!! A reprimand would be more appropriate.
Would be harsh if he got a penalty, MSC was involved in a worse incident at Barcelona in FP3 and recieved no penalty.
So in other words.. If you get anywhere near Senna on the track, he'll moan and cry until you get a penalty. Sounds about right for the stewards.
I love Montreal, cars sliding all over the place, hitting walls, hapless marshalls, and wildlife all over the track (as long as they don't get hit, stay safe groundhogs). I missed the first hour, first thing I saw was Kovalainen's crash, then the marshalls living up to their reputation of being completely useless by swinging his car all over the place with a crane and slamming it into the ground several times. I liked Heikki saying it's his job to push hard and the mechanics' job to fix his car, and brushing the crash off as good use of the mechanics. I'll be pissed off if Vettel gets a penalty for cutting a chicane in practice but I knew as soon as I saw it they'd penalise him. Ridiculous stewarding these days.
Didn't Vettel cut a chicane in Korea(?) in practice or quali last season and got a warning not to do it again? Also has he definitely got one, or is it just rumoured?
He's under investigation for overtaking Senna then forcing him onto the grass approaching the last turn. It forced Senna to abandon his lap.
