Bruce has already moved to deny the likelihood of returns for Campbell and Turner in today's press confererence. He also said he's already made some calls (when he was on the way to the conference) with regards to signing players.
I would imagine as soon as he was contacted and he realised us as a potential employer he will have been doing his homework on our squad. He may even have been reviewing the match tapes of last season over the interim period. To be honest, it is dead easy with us, we have glaring deficiencies in a couple of positions and the desperate need for more depth. What will be interesting is what formations he wants to play? Is he a "pick the players to fit the formation" devotee or a "pick the formation to suit the players" man? First priority MUST be a big hold-up striker. Someone to play the lone striker role. THAT is where good money will be well spent.
Big Emile! http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12691/7801171/Bruce-lines-up-Heskey-for-Hull Would definitely be an upgrade on Big Dele, and would give us a different option up front to McLean, Simpson and Fryatt.
That will certainly get OLM going! Decent player, would certainly do as cover whilst Hobbs is getting back to fitness. Perhaps it was him and Heskey that Bruce was lining up prior to the conference? At least the silly season can now really start now that we have a manager with numerous players being linked to us. It's the best part of the summer for me (domestic football wise).
Wouldn't be such a stupid rumour for Kilgallon to join though, he's not in Sunderland's plans anymore, they've told him he can go, we need a centre back, Bruce knows him, not such a joke rumour JD
I know it's probably quite realistic, but you haven't been around that long so I thought the ongoing Kilgallon joke would have gone straight over your head. Kilgallon would be a good addition, but it depends on the transfer budget - we need a fair few signings.
I think I kinda get the Kilgallon jokes, apparently OLM has a fanatic obsession with him and he always wants us to sign him every transfer window, I asked about Kilgallon on this board a couple of weeks ago as a short term replacement for Hobbs, and OLM was first to answer
With Bruce it wouldn't be the most stupid of rumours, he always liked playing under Bruce I think, his injury was unfortunate and MON prefers Mignolet
