even sir alex ferguson is capable of failing! however, he is far more likely to be a success than a failure. he has way too much going for him. if he does fail, it won't be down to a lack of experience though - don't forget he's experienced nearly 15 years in the top division as an assistant. he's done his apprenticeship so to speak and he's done it under some cracking managers (and christian gross )

My argument is that his achievement is that he got Newcastle promoted with international stars, well done for not ****ing it up, short of that; why are you wetting your pants over him?

he had 12 years experience as an assistant. that's not to be sniffed at. you have vastly underestimated how difficult a job both newcastle and birmingham (especially) were. you seem to have no idea about his background or standing within the game. ok, lets put it this way; west bromwich have just appointed steve clarke as their new manager today. i'd love to know your opinion of him...
